Your reply was to the post about about hatred being taught. I'm all for rivalry, it's important not to lose it, but hopefully post Good Friday Agreement, we can move forward and stop the hating. It might not be this generation, but won't help opening old wounds.
In fairness, my comment was with tongue firmly in cheek

It's a tiny minority on both sides who genuinely hate the other, luckily.

Not sure if anyone has been critical of people booing national anthems.

When you're at home, you naturally try to make as hostile an atmosphere as possible.

Previous joking aside, I see no issue with booing (even if it's not my thing).

Oh they have. You may have missed it, but I think it was during euro 2020 (2021) middle class Guardian readers branded England fans as vile, disrespectful thugs for booing other teams anthems.

I don’t care either way. I just want the “rules” to be the same for all

it's amazing what letting him play a similar role to the one he plays for his very successful club can do

Believe me, those goals HURT the Irish.

A bit like O’Hare and Hamer both scoring against us, but worse.

Hopefully today onwards marks the point TAA is used consistently in the England team. Arguably one of our biggest talents, criminal we missed a few years but still only 25

you reckon?

Its always there bubbling beneath the surface. Understandably so, I hasten to add. But don’t underestimate the bitterness.

I didn't reply to yours, it was bringing up 1995 as a valid reason.
I know that mate, I was just replying to say Sick Boy replied to my comment about" hatred", which was me being glib in an attempt to be humorous, I was just pointing that out. Anyway, I'll leave you to it, sorry.

Nah. International football is ok, but club football is life or death

It's such an improvement on Southgate.

It’s is but also needs a bit of context. Southgate had to try to prepare us to beat the best teams in the summer and we do usually struggle for a bit of energy at end of season tournaments

Having said that we appear to be pressing better, being a little bit braver on the ball and look far more balanced

I know people talk about mismanagement of TAA but for me the treatment of Gordon* who is aggressive/confident on the ball and has pace on the left was worse. Southgate ignoring him for the whole tournament was bizarre

*I don’t know if he’s the answer long term or not but he offers something different and stretches the game

“Scotland face a very tough test in Lisbon, against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal”

Surely can’t still be playing for them…

Carsley’s unleashed them a bit. Saka isn’t tied to RW, Trent is popping up where he’s good for Liverpool.

so far so good

And it's hard to play against sides that crowd you out and sit in but atleast England are making the positive moves

Ireland without answers
