Arsenal fan I spoke to reckons they’ll go for a marquee signing in a different position. Sounds like they’re happy with Havertz and Jesus as backup

If you actually look on their forum the Gyokeres link isn't even really taken that seriously.

His agency does tend to work in overdrive so all the links and rumours have probably been instigated from their end.

No I don't think he would, Sporting have every chance of winning the league again and progressing to the knockouts of the CL

Kind of like saying he'd stay at somewhere like Celtic though.

He'll move to the Premier League (regardless of Champions League status), if there's an offer.

We're good enough for the top 6 now!

1 or 2 more would be ideal, but we've only really lost O'hare from last years first 11 and Rudoni is more than filling that position.
Plus having Sakamoto back is a massive bonus. And If Dovin proves to be successful we should be laughing.

Then there's the extra squad depth with EMC and BTA, and who knows how good Rodrigues could be?

There's Sheaf to come back in, and then there's the extra experience of the English game that Torp now has.

And once we settle our back 4 we should be more solid.

Top 6 should be nailed on.
What you worried about?

A lot of 'ifs' here. Attack aside the reality is our defence is shite and needs improvement.

Not quite, given that Lisbon is hugely preferable to Glasgow 🤣

Think this gives an insight into why Fabrizio Romano was probably so interested in the transfer of Gyokeres.

I was thinking last night, are arsenal and other suitors waiting to see how Vik does in the champions league before making a move in January? 70 million is a lot and I wonder if the clubs interested are waiting to see how he performs at club level outside of the championship and Portuguese league. Just a theory but I hope he moves soon!

The only likely way it would work is if the bidding clubs can't afford the full amount up front (as often required to trigger the release clause) and chose to structure it over eg 5 years then the release clause may become irrelevant.
Pretty much every transfer is paid over years, normally the length of the contract signed. It’s how the buying club writes off the value of the player

if you glance at other forums, you will find fans from at least 12 other clubs claiming that

There is too much chatter out there linking Gyokeres with Arsenal, which suggests the interest is credible.

Although that doesn’t make a bid likely, imminent or even inevitable.

One theme is that Arsenal continue to try to drive the price down.

I mean he managed 5 goals and 2 assists in 9 apps in the Europa too

The fees being talked about for Gyokeres are ridiculous. Of course, the more the better, but talk around 90-100m is surely quite ridiculous for a player who has never played at the top level. This would rank him alongside the likes of Rice, Griezmann etc.

Does anyone know if Brighton also have a sell on clause? Or maybe they had a pay out when we sold him to Lisbon

also, Vik isn’t moving, and he’s even said as much, he’ll stay until at least January but I believe all season…..

the one I’m surprised about is Gus, I understood he was on his way, but appears he may have changed his mind for this season at least - shame as at one stage, if only for a very short period, I was led to believe he might have been making a Messiah like return too

Brighton just paid 40 million for a striker who scored around 8 goals for Leeds and around the same no of goals in the Bundsaliga . So maybe not too far fetched to think SL will receive a large fee for him. He's already scored 3 league goals in 2 games for Sporting this season.

The rumours continue …

seems like a strangely precise sum £131 million. Let’s hope it’s true. Good luck to Vik wherever he lands.
Absolute madness. Arsenal could have paid us £25M with add ons and both of us would have thought we got a good deal.

I read that Charlie Patino is also leaving Arsenal. Is there a glimmer of a hope that they'll make a late bid for Vik?
