What was the City of Coventry's original name ? Cofa's Tree. From it's inception in the Middle Ages. That's where the line "Rooted in history" must come from.
The name Coventry derives from the Anglo-Saxon “treo” meaning “tree” and the personal name Cofa or Coffa – together the two parts make up “Cofa’s Tree” or “Coffa’s Tree”, which over time became Coventry. Who Cofa was remains a mystery, but it is probable that he was a landowner and that the tree marked the centre or boundary of the settlement that would become the City that we are proud to represent.
Really rate that, clean and simple with a bit of historical detail, and the best bit is there’s no collar.
