How does everyone think we are shaping up under Mark Robins ?
I don't think he has got us playing well or good football any more than previous managers. I do think he has improved our defence though, we are pretty much a one man team at the moment in attacking though
He talks a good talk. Just waiting until he can walk the walk. I have faith in him. Saying that I had faith in AT. I have faith in whoever is in charge. When the faith goes I will give up![]()
He's doing ok, I don't think we can really judge him until next season when he's had 2 transfer windows to get rid of the dross.
He does however, make some strange decisions and is a bit negative - Moussa and Jennings were virtually playing as 2 defensive midfielders int he first half in what looked like a 4231.....at home vs a side of part timers who are 4 leagues below us. The first goal came from Moussa's first foray forward and in the second half both players played higher up the pitch which made us look more dangerous.
Not to disagree with this at all because its a good point, but I sort of understood the decission as by having the two of them there meant that they weren't able to score that early goal which would have had the fans on the players back. Although yesterday was very poor we got the job done and for now that's all we can really hope for under Robins.
Expectations for the rest of the season: Mid table finish and a cheeky Wembley visit for the JPT

IMO we are no better under Robins, their is no evidence to suggest otherwise, yes we have won a couple, but the football is no better, the players seem to be on totally different wave lengths.
Robins docent seem to know his best starting 11 or who should even be captain.
6/10 must do BETTER
3 years is too long to turn around a club at the level we are at. 2 years will be changing most of the squad. We have about the highest player budget. There are no amazing squads to play against. Sort things out this season and go for it next season at the latest for me. If it wasn't for the Shaw stint at the start of the season it would look so different. Most teams if not nearly all will have a different manager as well as different players at this level.
So this. We all want to believe MR is the manager to finally give us some cheer, whether he is may take a few seasons. Trouble is, we don't usually wait that long!
There is the evidence. The phrase "won a couple" was rarely used in the last 18 months.

To be honest pusb92 I think he just likes to play safety first with 2 defensive midfielders, which is exactly what he did at Barnsley:
"Some people will credit him for his work here, and whilst he did keep us up twice, the football was awful to watch in the main.
He was obsessed with playing 2 holding midfielders, and chose to ignore the obvious talents of Jacob Butterfield in favour of his loanee Diego Arismendi, a Uruguayan defensive midfielder, who was utter gash.
He played (in the main) a 4-2-2-1-1 formation.
Back four had two defensive mids ahead of them. Then another two midfielders ahead of them, who sometimes were wide (like wingers) but more often were narrow like midfielders. Then a number 10 behind the target man. "
