Vladimir Putin has vowed to create “problems” for Finland by placing troops near its border as punishment for joining Nato.
The Russian leader said his country had been at peace with Finland until the US and the EU
persuaded Helsinki to join the Western military alliance.
“They took and dragged Finland into Nato,” he said during an interview with Russia’s Rossiya 1 TV. “There were no problems. Now there will be because we will now create the Leningrad Military District and concentrate certain military units there,” Putin said.
