Interesting subs stat (3 Viewers)

So we make 0.7 less subs than average (injuries and squad size ? ) , .. and pretty much all teams have subs on for between 21- 29 , the top 3 being between 21 and 25 mins

Someone better at data than me can confirm, but I don’t see a ton of correlation there with league position.

Interesting that on Saturday we’ll have already played the six teams who make subs earlier than anyone else in the division.

Quite spread out data tbf though, no clear line of best fit through any of the points, probably only thing you could say is teams seem to do better making more subs per game? But even that’s skewed by Watford. Not sure if there’s much in this tbf.

Is it a coincidence that we haven’t won from behind in over a season? I think not.

It’s a genuine weakness of Robins that if he gets the tactics wrong he struggles to correct them.

It’s graphing two totally unrelated variables so i wouldn’t expect correlation. What’s needed is probably league position as a third axis to see the impacts of the two variables. And probably best to normalise by squad size but that’s hard to do with different quality players (could have a squad of 50 17 year old YTS players vs 23 Prem players)

Basically it’s a pointless graph outside of wanting to know the difference in sub strategy between teams.

Any stats on the amount of times Robins makes the first one that isn't injury enforced?

2021/22 was the final season of 3 subs. Maybe they have become more of a factor?

With the not coming from behind stat in over a year its worth remembering a couple things , from the 3-0 defeat at Norwich last September we only lost 8 matches until the end of the season and 3 of the defeats were 1-0 .

We only lost 8 in 41 games until the season end .. and 9 in 43 including the playoffs.

There was nothing wrong with Robins tactics at all , this clearly shows this

Robins has never liked using subs.

I used to think it was because our squad was weak but surely that's not an argument anymore?

Exactly. Can’t come from behind if you never go behind.

Alot is made of this stat but the reality is we went behind the 5th least in the division , even Sheffield united who went behind 1 less times only got 6 more points from behind over 18 matches .. they went up

It doesn't say anything about his ability to change this up during a game though does it?

Well I saw a few tactical masterclasses last season

Watford away , amazing tactics by Robins as an example .

Sheffield united who got promoted only gained 6 more points from going behind 1 less times .. Luton 6 more points 4 less games ..

The stat is meaningless , at what minute did we go behind ? Burnley for example was a late winner We drew 7 times from behind so did we change it up to get points ?

But as frostie states , even if it did mean anything , it was only the season before we came from behind to get 27 points , the most in the league ..

But we went behind 29 times , Fulham who pissed it went behind 14 times

Last season we went behind the 5th least in the league , Reading had one of the best records coming from behind last season but went down

IT MEANS NOTHING

It means we went behind too often, but also that we did show good character not to let heads drop and a belief that we could come back. Also must be a little unsettling for other teams as that stat grows giving a small psychological advantage.

I don’t think it means nothing, I agree Robins is good tactically but generally I don’t think he/we are aggressive enough when going behind.
