Is the third goal Wilson's fault?

Think definitely Thomas fault

Although I do sometimes wonder if Wilson is good enough to make big saves.

The tip over bar was not the super save some say it was

The free kick save not bad though

But it was obvious where second goal was gonna be placed and he still didn't save it

Thomas has to be blamed for it but the guy still had work to do - he could probably have done better

Bizarre game. But feeling very positive. Special mentions to Wright, Sakamota, Ayari - so much talent (which we will develop). Our third goal was a thing of beauty.

Sakatomo was poor

I know people like to think wing backs are modern day Tommy Hutchison types but reality is they are defenders first - he’s no defender and would be targeted relentlessly

He’s a really odd signing

Agree on defensive point.

He can be a good wing back when chasing a goal and going for broke but AM his probably his position.

This is why I wanted another RWB brought in. I imagine lati can do a job there though.

They clearly have to be both but Robins prefers offensive wing backs hence why Dasilva plays over Bidwell.

Still getting his name wrong but at least starting with the right letter this time. He needs to be playing in attacking midfield to do the sort of pressing that you think Palmer can’t.

Well other than the fact that Bidwell kept esbrand out. He actually normally seems to have one advancing wing back and one whose more defensive - MVE gets forward plenty but his position starts deeper than Da Silva

It’s worrying also we are shipping goals on Da Silvas side of the pitch - yesterday again he was stranded

Goals 2 and 3 came down our right hand side?

There's clearly talent there with Sakamoto.

It's easy to underestimate how challenge his move to the UK is with limited English.

There could be a time in 6 weeks where we have Palmer, Sakamoto, Allen, O'Hare and Ayari all fighting for a spot in an attacking midfield roll. That's far too much talent to sit on the bench. Robins will move to one up top, surely?

Ok then half of those were scored from the right and half on the left

i think your missing the point - the goals I refer to the LWB was nowhere near the threat so we were exposed. Yesterdays goals on the right werent crosses into the box with the centre backs stretched

Your original point was ‘It’s worrying we are shipping goals down his side of the pitch’ when so far it’s an equal number down each side and 2 of the 3 yesterday he wasn’t even on the pitch!

No - two of yesterdays goals were nothing to do with how the wing back defended the position - one was a poor pass from a centre half to the keeper and the other a run through the defence which should have been blocked

If Bidwell was playing yesterday I think that goal was prevented - as with the other examples I’ve mentioned

If we had conceded 6 goals all down Dasilva’s side your point might have more merit. Even if you’re right, we conceded more goals yesterday from just gifting possession away and really even the first one that’s how it started.

So rather than focus on perceived weaknesses in one player’s game we should be working to improve tactical familiarity in the whole group.

Give it a rest for once.

It’s obvious to everyone that every season you have a weird obsession for targeting individual players and then spend all season trying to justify your viewpoint. It’s tiring, negative and uninformed.

Maybe yesterday you missed Saka’s superb pass to set up our third. He’s technically brilliant and a nightmare to defend against when he’s advanced and on the ball.

Let’s support the new lads 5 games in vs. your nonsense.

so if we had a goalkeeper who was attributable to 50% of the goals due to positional errors your response as manager world be “we need to improve technical familiarity in the whole group”

Ok

The root cause of all 3 goals was gifting possession away and misuse of possession was also why we didn’t score more. It’s pretty critical to how we play and even more so against a high pressing opponent. There were mistakes all over the pitch yesterday but you seem to have zoned in on Palmer and DaSilva as the two most at fault-I disagree.

Also a goalkeeper is in no way comparable to a wing back.

Absolutely. I thought Sakamoto was fine and that pass was outstanding. Similar level of pass to the one for their first goal. I think he looks good cover for the wing back positions.

Then you must think Robins was as well. Maybe return to this when 90-100% of the goals are conceded down one side of the pitch rather than half.

Did we not give possession away softly in the build up to all 3 goals yesterday?

He said bidwell kept out JWE last year and Allen playing a lot of proof robins knows more

But when dasilva starts ahead of bidwell it's a mistake?

You give the ball away unexpectedly against a team that’s quick on the break and you’ll be in trouble no matter who is at wing back or attacking midfield. Yet apparently it’s mostly the fault of two players that we didn’t win.
