Poch: We must find solution for massive squad

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino says he must make tough decisions to reduce his "massive squad" after taking 29 players to the USA for the club's pre-season tour.
"At the moment the dynamic is very good, really good guys and they are sharing the time together," he said after the 1-1 draw with Newcastle.
"It is difficult because sometimes in every game three, four, five players cannot play and that is difficult because the mood is difficult.

"It is about creating a squad with good balance and people who have the opportunity to play and can compete for their place.
"That is a big job and challenge for us in the transfer window to build a good relationship and good balance. Then, if players are not happy because they believe they are not going to play, we are going to find a solution with the club and fix the situation.
"What we cannot have is a massive squad, players not involved and then it's going to create a mess in the squad. Maybe less is more and more is less, it is not mathematic. That is why I need to make clear we don't need a big squad.
"We need 22, 23, 24 players with some younger and that's it. I am so sorry because maybe the decision will be tough but we need to build a good and balanced team who want to compete for things."

Ridiculous how clubs like Chelsea and others have been allowed to stock pile players around the country, infact the world. Basically bribing players when they are young with crazy wages just hoping one becomes the next Lionel Messi.
Was reading the other day one of their younger players now 23 has played TWO first team games and has just bought a house in Beckingham, there wouldn’t be a lot of change out of a million quid there.

Continuing the “Thomas the tank engine” and “Collins dictionary” I’d be amazed if it was any cleverer than “Flying Dutchman”
100% all they have up their sleeve other than Double Dutch, which relies entirely on signing another Dutch player at the same time.

If we lose Hamer I’d like us to go for Matt Grimes at Swansea. Has ran the midfield when ever I’ve seen him play.

Sheaf and Grimes with Ohare or Tats or KP in the CAM would be a high level midfield for the championship.

I know we’ve spent a bit but there’s no way we’re affording Grimes - isn’t he wanted in the premier league?

Wouldn’t mind us going and getting Milan van Ewijk’s ex team mate Sydney van Hoojidonk, now that would be a star studded team with him partnering Simms!

Sunderland seem to be in the running for a lot but their recruitment looks very average so far to me.

Zach Awe going to Southampton it looks like. Can't believe he turned his back on us after all those games he played as a trialist

Can’t believe we were only trialling him as an U21 and now he’s going to Southampton to be a first team player, what a balls up. Doug King out!
