I thought you only stopped play for head injuries? What happened to that?

There was one last game that very clearly wasn’t and the ref still stopped play. But yeah even that is gamed.

Injuries by the sideline where the player could easily move off the pitch for treatment as well.

If you go down with cramp the ref should award 3 goals to the opposition because these days cramp only seems to affect the team that’s winning, so it would be an instant cure.

I sort of agree, but the problem is that it would give an incentive for the opposition to actually give a player a head injury because they'd be a man up for a short period of time.

Maybe allow a concussion sub, but the other team gets to choose which player come off the bench

The situation I hate is at a free kick and shot hits a defender in the wall. If they go down and stay down refs seem to award them the free drop ball regardless of the fact the attacking team were in possession when game was stopped.

No the player going off has done wrong he gets the second booking and they finish the match with ten players,another dislike is not retreating ten yards allowing their player time to line wall up and get back into position advantage all gone .Book the first one who fails to do so would soon sharpen the mind

I still haven’t forgiven whoever that prick at Hull was who went down in the corner of our half while we had the ball in theirs, referee stopped play then he immediately got up. Wasn’t booked of course

Expect Birmingham to adopt time wasting tactics on Saturday over any form of restart. If they can make the game an ugly, scrappy, stop start affair, the better their chances of frustrating us (and the big crowd particularly), and getting themselves a result. This is one game where an early goal for us is of more importance than normal as it effectively ruins their likely gameplan in its tracks.

It has become a joke but at the end of the day the ref can just stop his watch, in the World Cup they played long periods of injury time.

Brought this up on another thread but thought maybe it's worth more discussion. Last weeks ref didn't have the balls to give a second yellow to follow up on the "drying the ball" card. Their player was just taking the piss by continuing to dry the ball and then advancing 10 or more yards (Didn't go back and check). Ironically we were sent back a few minutes later for stealing just a couple of yards.

It would solve a lot of the timewasting if the rules were changed to give the ref the power to turn a throw over to the other team for any reason he deems sufficient (Timewasting, stealing yards etc) If this was succesful it could be followed with the same powers for goal kicks late in the game. (Cancel the goal kick and award a corner) This would solve a lot of problems.

Keepers are the worst offenders, (our Ben is exempt from this criticism!). The new one is to set up for a short goal kick, then usher the defenders forward for a long kick. Plenty of keepers are shown a yellow, but never heard of a ref having the balls to show a second.

In the Birmingham Snr Semi Final our GK (Luke Bell) was taking a goal-kick on the left of the area (in about the 94th minute, with us under the cosh at 3-2!) when he picked it up and very slowly repositioned it to the right of the area. He got booked for it immediately, but it worked, it wasted time.
