Really enjoyed last season felt like everything was starting to fall in to place for us to at least be a very well established Championship football team playing a brand of football that I love to watch. Fast forward a few months and we are back in to frankly dull off pitch distractions and not even being able to watch the team play. Obviously the extra time not playing has given folks on here open season to rip in to every player we have to the point were I can't see the trolls from the trees. Needless to say finding it all pretty gloomy... So anyone still feeling positive and why?

Just think all pur squad will be back to full fitness while others will be missing key players.

I agree it has been such a frustrating and concerning start to the season. At least now there seems to be a solution to the pitch problem, for now at least. You never know how things might turn out. Maybe there will be a silver lining to all this.
My one glimmer is the loan signing of Panzo. I think he could be an excellent player for us.
I hope now we can get back on track. Any more off-field disruptions and I fear Robins and Vivash will leave.
Hanging on to Gyokeres is crucial too. With him in the team you can guarantee the opposition defence are going to be given a hard time.

Panzo does look a talent agreed Gyok also looks like he could continue last year's form which is brilliant as long as he's playing for us.

Once the dust settles it will probably be a convenient distraction for some at the club. We were going to hit our natural ceiling this season anyway, under the constraints our owners require us to operate under. Now we have a plethora of excuses and things to blame for what was always going to be a difficult season.

It feels weird watching other results happen whilst sitting on our hands. I tend to focus on injuries to other teams' players, particularly upcoming opponents - so will be watching Hull and PNE games with extra interest between now and our next games.

On a plus note, the other teams are straight back in to a new season after a short break. We should be well drilled and rested. I think last year we were lucky with injuries to key players. Already with COH injured it's a worry, as we do lack that bit of quality when you move away from our starting 11. Obviously, we are now going to face a lot of fixtures, and it will all come down to how well the squad holds up.

There are reasons for optimism, all we need to happen now is...
- Pitch issue resolved.
- 2 players to leave enabling strengthening in midfield.
- Avoid relegation.
- Wasps to want out of Coventry and the Arena lease. (not necessarily go bump, just want out)
- Buyer for club and lease to be found.
- 2023 Summer rebuild with top 6 budget.
Win our 3 games in hand and we’re top of the league reason enough to be positive.

Yes - bit of a reality check needed, with the media stating that annual energy bills are likely to be £6k from next April. I was chatting with my wife about how there is almost a perfect storm gathering to tip a lot of people into financial difficulty. I suspect a lot of 'luxury' services (cinema. restaurants, subscription services etc will get hammered over the next year or so). In addition to that, I think some individuals will sadly struggle to cope with the mental side of such financial pressures
.There is a difference between depressing and depressed and having suffered myself is my own opinion OK?

No-one has the slghtest idea what wholesale energy prices are going to look like in 8 months time. Even the quoted £4200 in January is complete negative scenario guesswork.

As I said, no-one has any idea what energy prices will be then. Don't you think it's strange that a week or so ago they were predicting £4266 by January, now it's £4799 according to that sensationalist article. A very precise figure considering it's complete guesswork, and totally contradicts the forecast of a week ago. But it sells newspapersNews (BBC?) tonight

Play up Sky Blues - luckily I'm a glass half full man, and things don't get to me (CCFC aside!)
On energy bills, I'm about to take on British Gas, who have used an erroneous estimated reading for both gas and electricity, and informed my father in law (dementia) that he owes over £5k (he only has gas central heating and was in credit a year ago). They were going to up his direct debit to over £900 a month, and even though i informed them it was all based on rubbish estimates (I provided them with actuals) they amended it to over £500 instead (even though I still reckon that his account is in credit!) Try talking to them on the phone (call centre abroad - gggrrr)

People know that the reason for energy prices rising is that Russia are limiting their exports of gas. A little known fact is that we import less than 4% of our gas from Russia, and are net exporters of gas in the form of LNG to Europe.
Obviously the market price of gas has risen dramatically and it has affected electricity prices because a lot of electricity is produced from gas fired power stations, but in UK there is no logical reason for such dramatic rises. You can see on the TV adverts for the various electricity companies that a significant amount of our electricity is produced from renewables, (solar and wind turbines) There is something else going on that doesn't fully explain the dramatic predictions.

I thought that electricity prices were linked to those of gas. Therefore it doesn’t really matter where the electricity is produced or the cost of production, if gas prices go up then so does electricity. I would have thought that the price of electricity has no need to rise, except for its link to gas.
