Cain using all the skills he learned at Wasps and lying through his teeth when asked about trouble at white ball games.

I'm not convinced Blast games are up on attendance either having watched them on the streams. if the blast was as popular as he's making out why are quarter final tickets a tenner?

I went to the bears v Leicester game and there was trouble in the Hollies and outside the ground after.

There was a game where they gave loads of tickets to one of those student piss up companies and were surprised when a load of pissed up students arrived, weren't particularly interested in the cricket and caused trouble.

Went down particularly well as it was when there was still capacity restrictions and members had to apply for tickets and not everyone got them.

Bairstow is in amazing form and the moment and Root is being Root but being England you're never convinced that one wicket won't lead to three very quickly.

The problem with this free tickets thing that seems to be the go to on day 5 now is all the tickets are immediately snapped up but there's loads of empty seats. Why not make it adults a tenner, kids a quid and all the money to charity. Raise a few quid and make sure people with tickets are likely to turn up.

Pretty selfish really, that

I'd like to think it was people who were genuinely want to go who rush to get tickets as they are available online not long after the announcement but then realise they can't for whatever reason but I suspect a decent chunk go to people who then try to sell them on.

Either way it will be a decent crowd for potentially a sessions play. Tickets were only £20 for adults before the giveaway but agree, a small commitment wouldn’t be a bad shout especially if they donated it to charity

Maybe not the best day for Cain to go on Sky and boast about how inclusive Edgbaston is and how well trained the stewards are to deal with any issues that do come up. Reports of Indian fans being racially abused and when it was reported tot eh stewards they told the fans being absued to sit down and stop complaining.

Thought it sounded like it might be getting a bit OTT yesterday. The constant singing of ‘India get battered everywhere they go’ made it sound more like football than cricket, although Edgbaston is always lively, which I usually love. With the other comments about trouble at Blast games etc this just feels like more idiots that can’t handle their drink and the ‘post pandemic trouble’ now entering cricket.

What is wrong with people these days ?!

I say all that having been pissed at loads of events, gigs, games inc Edgbaston over the years but hardly seeing trouble. This aggressive shit is just ruining live events for many though and people need to learn how to control/behave themselves again…it’s embarrassing !

Was there when the guy got stabbed with a bottle. Pakistan one day international I think. Drink doesn’t help a minority of people behave

There seems to have been a lot of examples this summer of "football like" behaviour at the cricket. Pissed up lads in Stone Island causing trouble and generally not there to enjoy the cricket but just to get sniffed and pissed out their heads. Obviously it's the minority over the majority but it's not a good look and not what you'd expect at the cricket.

Definitely think this post pandemic mindset has something to do with it. Seems some people don't know how to act anymore.

Its not a surprise when you've been pushing for years that you have a stand where people get absolutely hammered and behave like idiots that you end up with problems like this.

Thankfully it seems confined to one stand and therefore easily avoided and doesn't spill over outside the ground but they need to get a grip on it fast as its starting to become a regular occurrence.

Went to a T20 game at Edgbaston last year and it was the first time I'd ever seen any kind of trouble at a cricket game... To many people using the "pent up after lockdown" excuse to justify behaving like a dick

The idea of the party stand is not the issue, that is designed to keep the beery lads to one area and separate from the rest of the crowd

This is people can't get tickets there so and so they go into other stands and still act like they are in the party stand

Ban all racists for life, including the indians who booed mooen ali ;)

Not just cricket. Sister has a food contract at several racecourses and says boozy brawls becoming commonplace at horse racing.

Been watching Test cricket a long time never seen anything like this in England.
4th innings are supposed nervy chases of 200 not comfortable chases of huge scores.

Breath of fresh air innit.....

positive, aggressive, attacking play while entrusting the players with the responsibility to be players, not plodders......

....are you watching Gareth?

I heard the "India get battered ..." chant going on for ages yesterday evening, and i wondered what the world was coming to! Footy types now going to the Test for a fun day out and not knowing how to behave.
As for the accusations of racism, that just makes my blood boil!

Anyway, India *don't* get battered everywhere they go. They won a series IN Australia last year - last achieved by England in 2010. And this series (started last summer) they'd have been home and dry if the first test at Trent Bridge hadn't been washed out on Day 5.

England are truly in a rich vein of form at the moment - well a handful of batsmen are. And v entertaining to boot.

Yer, that's my view too. Hopefully a step away from the formulaic/regimented approach from Root/Silverwood and start by selecting the best team and get them enjoying playing for England again. The Ashes away reminded me of the England football team prior to Southgate, so shit-scared of losing and reliant on instructions, they couldn't think for themselves.
Less than 2 months since I posted this and I don't think anyone would have predicted the turnaround  Just sensational. They've turned from carpet beaters to world beaters (I love that cliché 😅 )

Being reported Moeen Ali has signed a three year white ball deal for the Bears the salty Pears fans are saying he was useless anyway.

Turns out it was one of my work colleagues receiving the racist abuse. Understandably feeling very down about it. He’s been told they “can’t identify the culprits” regardless of the fact the stewards told the culprits to sit down and didn’t look to eject them. Really not on.
