Talk about dividing opinion. 😂

His revenge/one man against the world movies are all just one film but with endless different film titles, with him playing the exact same character, but with a different character name and him acting out the same plot, but in a different location with the same conclusion every time.

I absolutely loved Die Hard, but it is responsible for churning out endless one man, the hero, who takes on the world and kills a whole room full of machine gun toting bad guys with just his bare hands and a paper clip, type movies and Liam Neeson now must have made at least 20 of these films

I thought Taken and Unknown were good Liam Neeson films but yeah the plot "Retired American family man comes out of retirement to kill hundreds of Eastern European gang members" seems to be the staple of every action film now haha.

Still not seen John Wick yet which I've heard is worth a watch

The bonus with the original John Wick is that once you’ve seen it you’ve also seen the sequels. Saved yourself 4 or 5 hours 👍🏻

I liked Taken too. That's the first one, not Taken 2

Life Hack!
I’ve not seen the last few but I reckon the same for James Bond? My daughter went to see the most recent one, which was the first she’s seen (?!) and really enjoyed it. Before telling me what happened I was like, “let me guess…”.
She was suitably impressed.

Not sure if anyones mentioned it but Boiling point on Netflix (Stephan graham). Uncomfortable watching so avoid if you’re looking for something happy and uplifting ! Read it was done in one take as well. One of the best British actors of our generation.

Had a day off so decided to watch The Many Saints of Newark…I enjoyed it. Some of the acting is really good; got the mannerisms of the characters to a tee. I think you’ll have needed to see the series to appreciate a lot of it though.

I promise to now stop posting about the sopranos and try and only report on things people might not have seen before, and which have already been recommended many pages ago!

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but "Bombardment"on Netflix is a good WW2 film based on the true story of operation "Carthage" , an RAF attack on the Gestapo HQ in Copenhagen.
Danish with English subs in the main, though some is in English.
If you've never heard of this attack by the end of this film you'll know why . Not the RAFs finest hour.

Went to see ‘X’ at the Everyman cinema last night.
Now, I’m not sure I can recommend it…if you like horrors you might like it. I do and thought it was ok albeit really rather odd/uncomfortable viewing.

However, I can recommend not taking your daughter and her boyfriend (whom you’ve only met a handful of times) to see it.
He could hardly look me in the eye as we left.
I can also recommend reading a more robust review of any films you are going to see!

Everyman was good though!

I went to the Everyman with the wife after being onthe lash all day at the football. Had a big feed delivered to my seat that finished me off and fell asleep ten minutes in and was snoring and jumping all through the film, not my finest hour. Was on the front row as well.

In fairness to John Wick, I do like the way it sets up a completely secret, rules-based, criminal universe, and there are some proper actors in it to add a bit of heft. It is also beautifully filmed and choreographed.

And Keanu Reeves is, by all accounts, one of the better human beings on the planet, which I quite like too.

Just as an 'out there' suggestion, Constantine is a movie I always find myself drawn to. Keanu again, but in a supernatural conflict this time. Worth a watch, if you like that kind of thing...

I imagine with the comfy seats and booze service you wouldn’t be the first, or the last, to do that.
When the kids were younger I’d take them to the cinema mostly so I could sneak a good 30 minute kip in.

My mate fell asleep during the sequel to the remake of Clash of the Titans. With his 3d glasses on. Snoring his head off he was. It was pretty shit to be fair.

Finally going to start the latest season of The Last Kingdom. I think I mentioned before I am a massive fan of the books and that usually results in disappointment when translated to screen, but not in this instance.

I know it’s been out a little while, but I was mid Ozark and to finish that first.

Has anyone seen a decent recap of Season 4? Always handy to remember who everyone is etc!

Just to whet your appetite a bit more - once you finish S5 there is going to be a final movie next year to complete the story. If you’ve read the books too I guess you will have an idea of how that will play out.

Black crab is my nighttime film I am trying to get through at the moment. Fell asleep 3 times watching it. Can't get past where the cabin gets blown up.

Nothing really to recommend.

Did find this classic on Youtube.

I really enjoyed Constantine too. Think it got pretty negative reviews overall, but I thought the whole heaven vs hell on earth theme was really cool.

Keanu Reeves pretty much playing a Catholic Neo

Finally watched ‘Many Saints of Newark’. Loved it. Livia Soprano reminded me more of Carmela than she did Livia. Maybe it was intended for fans to spot those similarities, and Tony had that type for a model wife?

Think it was intended.
Didn't think Corey Stoll pulled off uncle Junior personally.
