Reckon we will see him on the bench over the next few weeks with Walker out? Looks like hes been performing well for the U23's end of last season and start of this.

Irrespective of any of the off-field rumours, I didn't really expect to see Bright pushing the first team until closer to November anyway. His match fitness must be absolutely miles behind after his time in the Indian league - he's barely played any matches since he left us in 2019.

As for Tavares, seems like he's suffering from a bout of Ponticellitus - getting better and better the longer he doesn't play for us. Scored 2 goals in 26 appearances for Rochdale, his development would have to be meteoric if he's improved enough in 6 months to be close to playing.

Think it's much more likely that if there were any issues with Waghorn and Gyo that we'll play an extra midfielder or have Godden back on the bench now for emergency use.

We spent most of our summer transfer budget on two new strikers, both of whom are still fit, and Robins had a tendency last year to play with one up top anyway. Tavares is a long way off being a factor. Look forward to hearing about him in every match thread when we lose though.

Bugger off with your logic and reasoning, I think you'll find Bright isn't playing because :

He's a party animal
He's too hungover to play
He's pretending to be injured
He's pretending to have personal issues in order not to play
He's just happy to collect the wage and not play
He's been banished to the u23s as punishment

I think that's the list of reasons given on here so far.

Of course if any of that were true, never mind all of it, he'd have been sacked for gross misconduct or breach of contract

He is being suggested because Robins has played 2 up top and Walker got injured.

Then he'll probably play our two new strikers then? (Seen some predictions that he'll go with one up front tonight though) Godden is also back in action, although I doubt we want to risk him. Either way, I highly doubt that Tavares is suddenly in contention after one injury. If he does make the bench, it'll be as a warm body, like he was last season.

Yes, so Walker being injured means people are saying Tavares should make the bench while the other 2 play...

That's literally how the thread starts and then you agree with it.

Nice one.

Would you like to see him come on maybe? You seem to like the kid.

Who else at the minute is going to come on up front once Waghorn / Gyo need to come off? It also depends on the score at the time of the change, if we need a bit of pace to press then why not?

I'd much rather he did than Shipley.

Tavares should really have come on against Northampton as the game was crying out for something different.

🤣 I do know he’s not an academy player,Their still around the first team lol @better days might have an opinion
The coming weeks will show which players from the fringe group and youngsters are thought to have a chance of breaking through
Bright will be right at the front of the pack if he's fit
He started against Northampton
Of the younger players Eccles was on the verge until his injury
And Ryan Howley also started against Northampton and travelled with the first team to Barnsley
I doubt any of the other youngsters are near to breaking through at Championship level at the moment but things can change quickly with young guys, especially forwards

Let’s hope for my sake Bright is on the bench tonight altho I’ll be amazed to see O’Hare score 😁

I havent seen him play so can't judge where Tavares is at. The normal starting point is have them just travel with the squad to experience the matchday routines. Even when they first get on the bench there is no real intent to play them other than an absolute emergency.

You are more likely to see a slight change in formation, especially away from home.

I think Marcus Rus isn’t that far off.

Because he's not ready yet and/or not good enough, would be my first thought. As others have said, if Waghorn or Gyokeres need to come off, it's more likely that we'll change formation - we might even start with only one up front if we're that shorthanded.

Supposedly he's fast and can score against Ipswich U23s and Nuneaton every other week, but I don't think that means he can suddenly do a job in the Championship, whatever our injury situation.

Not sure anybody is saying first name on the team sheet. More there as backup and maybe the odd 5 or 10 minutes here or there.

Northampton would have been ideal to put him on.

Personally, I hope he doesn't start scoring until after the transfer window closes.
