Hi all,

Grove Farm Juniors have collected a load of kit and boots to donate to Cefovid Uganda. However the shipping costs are not cheap. So we are hoping we can "crowdfund" the costs. Rough estimates are around £250, so a couple of quid off everyone would do the trick! Any surplus funds, should we do it, will be donated to a relevant charity.

Done.

Was thinking. Getting him over here would be a nightmare. But can we get a flag or something over we can get displayed in the Ricoh?

I read that totally backwards and thought you were suggesting moving the Ricoh over to Uganda.

Think I'll go and put the kettle on!

Hi

There are lots of options on Parcel2Go much cheaper than £250. I'm sure you'll get what you need - maybe spend the extra on something nice for them rather than paying to an overpriced courier?

Also - if you do a top up cash payment first into a Pre-Pay account, and then pay with prepay funds, P2G add 2% to it for free. So, for example, if you wanted to buy the UPS with protection above for £151.18, top up £148.22. P2G will add the difference to the cost of postage.

If you choose a different method, multiply the cost by 100/102 and pre-pay that amount, rounding up to the nearest penny.

The parcel is a fair bit bigger than that mate. Its roughly 20kg already with a bit more to go in.

Rest assured I wont just waste cash on expensive shipping.

Sorry :) I thought, how heavy can a few shirts and boots be? Clearly much heavier than I thought.

Still worth considering the 2% free add on though, hopefully. Best Wishes.

No problem. There's at least 10 pairs of boots and many kits. At least a large suitcase worth.

Without wishing to sidetrack the current positive thread, having a flag at the Coventry Arena ;) sounds a great idea. Let Ronald arrange for the kids to design a flag and get it printed over here. Maybe the club could support the printing costs ? That way, there is a chance that Cefovid would see their name on TV at home games. Increase interest in the charity and get the kids over there excited about the club. They are part of the Sky Blue family after all.

A massive Uganda flag with a sky blue text would be class

Don’t ship it in a suitcase though as with UPS as you will get charged extra as it’s not in a box, I don’t think we get a good employee discount anymore but will ask tonight to see if anybody knows.

It's an interesting thought but keeping it specific to the charity, the kids and their love of CCFC would be more appropriate if we're trying to support and promote the charity.

That was just to give an idea of how much stuff we have and how heavy it is. It's in a cardboard box.

I thought it would be we add just under ten pounds to every delivery in suitcases for added handling.

Up to £205 donated so far. Great effort.

Got some more stuff coming in to complete the package this week. Will update you all when I've sealed and weighed it in.

Quick update:

I have a shipping comparison guy looking into best options/prices for the package. The box is now full (20kgs!) of great kits, boots etc for the kids over in Uganda.

Apparently the customs over in African countries arn't the most scrupulous when it comes to what taxes/duties need to be paid. Donation of 2nd hand clothing shouldn't attract any, but there's no guarantee that they won't slap something on when it gets there. Resulting in charges at the other end. So we are looking into paying any possible taxes to avoid that scenario.

Update.

£295 donated which is brilliant.

Shipping down to £149 all in, customs/duty etc.

So we are going to have a surplus of roughly £145. I will speak with Ronald at CEFOVID Uganda, to see what he thinks. I'll put to him the idea of a big flag for the CBS Arena.
Flags a good idea. On their twitter they've voted for their own player of the season, maybe a few quid for a trophy - sure you can pick something up pretty cheaply.
