CET: Man Utd defender could come in, Richard Wood could go (2 Viewers)

One good aspect of getting rid of lots of our players is that their losing mentalities can piss off with them!

That's a good point. If we had the money I would completely replace the relegated team

wood is on 6k a week,

and the rest !

It's difficult to comment without seeing some of the new lads in action but the club have been pretty shrewd in the transfer market this summer, more players in, possibly a stronger squad than last year, but also cash in and wage bill down.

Man utd were obviously happy with how thorn and the club dealt with Norwood which again is useful in future as it mean there could be more loan opportunities coming our way.

SKY BLUES MOVE QUICK AFTER £1M KEOGH DEAL

COVENTRY City are set to strengthen their squad with a talented young centre-half from Manchester United as star defender Richard Keogh finally sealed his move away from the Ricoh Arena.
Although disappointed to be losing the 25-year-old fans' favourite * who has joined Derby for an undisclosed fee understood to eventually be worth in excess of £1million * Sky Blues boss Andy Thorn has acted swiftly to draft in another highly rated player on a season-long loan from Old Trafford.

It is expected that the powerful England youth international, who can play in a number of positions including centreback, full-back and central midfield, will complete the paperwork today and report for duty at Ryton on Monday on City's return from their preseason tour in Scotland.

Phil Jones?! :D

Were you happy to see Bigi go? You must have been as he was one of them.

So far we have lost a couple of players I would have loved to have kept, a couple that could have done a job for us and the others I have no feelings for.

Out of the players we have brought in we won't know how they will do until the season starts, but we have not signed any players yet that do not look as though they could do a job for us.

Overall this has been our best closed season for years, and it don't look over yet. This is the most optimistic I have been since we left the Prem

Another player I wouldn't be dissapointed if he left, as long as we find a replacement.

wood is monumentally crap at times but he does have his good games too,im just concerned at selling a senior player and getting anothe rkid in although if he can play fullback and midfield too thats like 3 signings in a way

malaga and edguele are old enough but are they good enough?

It's certainly a concern and leaves Cameron as the most experienced centre half as far as english football is concerned. I just get the impression that Wood would not be starting the season. For whatever reason he does not seem to rate him or MacPake and if he was to be a reserve that's no good to him or us.

Thing that surprises me the most in that article is that Thorn is still after another two strikers!

That will then be Ball, ROD, Jeffers, Cody, Elliott + TWO more.

Just think that there must be some more to go the other way. ROD is the obvious one, but Cody too maybe? Surprises me that we're after another two strikers.

Personally think wood out with 3 potential players in if im reading right is strengthening the squad.tbh our starting 11 and bench looks better than last seasons.clingan is NO loss .and cranie pffft never felt he wanted to be here anyway..keogh is a loss but felt he was best on right anyway

It was a pretty hypothetical situation to be honest. Bigi, add him to my 30 year list of good players passing through. There is someone out there now who we don t even know and in 18 months we ll be selling him and people will be crying in their beer. Tis always the way with city

Sorry just realised the title says CET. Bloody hell probably true then. Defence was the only area I thought we were sorted.
It is either a personality clash, or wood realises will and kev will be first choice. Or the wages AT frees up he can use this lad and another striker.
Was looking forward to him really having a strong impact for us this season.

I can only see two strikers in your list above so yes need two more with daniels as back up.

I don't tink it's a bad hing to be honest. ROD lets face it, is tosh! Count him out straight away. Jeffers doesn't seem to be that highly rated and could be used more out wide apparently. Elliott I think will be a bit part player and isn't an out and out forward. So that leaves Cody and Ball.

i still have faith in rod,at least he runs at defences, none of other strikers seem to do that, has scored 2 in pre season and come close to 5-6

and cody is a slick finisher,i want to keep him

regarding the defence the more i thinka bout it the more i rememebr how great cameron was under boothroyd, maybe this is his year to step up for a full season? this utd kid could be used here there and everywhere in the mean time

Forwards are still a concern. At this level McDonald averages one goal in 8 games - worse than Elliot - O'Donovan needs to go to free up whatever wage he is on.

Agree with most of this mate but the Bigi situation is just part and parcel of being a City fan. Its happened for years and cant see it changing anytime soon.

But all in all, this is the been the most interesting closed season i can remember for a long time. The usual "goings" but actually lots of "comings" aswel! Really looking orward to the season kicking off now so i can see what these new boys are about.

i think and i hope AT has got it write getting rid of players who let him down last season. At least this season he can't blame anyone but himself if it goes pear shaped because he can no longer say he has'nt done any wheelie and dealing and this is thornys squad.so lets have a good season and get the ricoh rocking again.PUSB

Personally I'm a lot happier than last season. We have bought in players to replace those that have left. Got rid of more high earners and time wasters. Only time will tell if they are good enough. AT seems to be on the money, two new strikers, we've got one I expect another and maybe and midfielder and defender. I believe we have more balanced side over all and really looking forward to the new season.

Well this is positive news. I can see this kid being used predominantly in midfield. And remember, everyone was skeptical about Norwood until he started playing so lets give this lad a chance.

As for Wood, I'm neither here nor there with him. If we can get two more strikers on his wages then so be it! I think we'd need to keep all these bit part strikers you talk about though as Thorn will need backups. Though I think a lot of people are judging the cake before the icings been put on. Give the players a chance to prove themselves this season!!
