If it helps, of the few people I've seen have issues they seem to have been replaced really quickly, not sure if they hold some in reserve for the existing consumer base rather than get them all out on shelves.
Thanks, ok cool I will contact them, it is really bumming me out hearing it. once I tune into it it is impossible to ignore

Same as aj, mine is fine. I did have to replace the hdmi as the one they give you struggles to cope on my 4k TV. sound was all over the place and jittery. Brought an 8k hdmi and works a dream.

sounds like a fault in your aitken which is shit

First run boxes are always dodgy. Especially Sony’s. Don’t think I’ve ever had a Sony day one console last the generation.

Both my ps1 and 2 also lasted the distance. Didn’t get PS3, as I got a 360 which I went through 3 of em!

The 360 didn’t fair much better!
Red ring of death wasn't it? The ps3 had an issue which you could solve by taking it to pieces and blasting a component with a heat gun. Might have even been the processor. I became an expert in disassembling and reassembling them. The fix never lasted long though.

My day one PS4 is still going strong now, still not a peep out of it. Before that I'd had to get a warranty replacement for the PS3 and replace the PS2 with the thinner one after a few years, but the PS1 somehow went the distance thanks to the 'hold it upside down' trick to read discs

Was sort of looking at getting one of these at one point, but then I realised just how little I actually game anymore, so I was going to just upgrade parts in my computer instead. Ohhh dear 🤦‍♂️

Due to scalpers and the continued success of bitcoin etc, it's become a nightmare getting new parts at retail price.

Yep one did that the other just died completely.

Still have my ps1 but sold my others. Got 250 for my PS4 recently, a lot of games but well happy with the price

Sent My PS5 back for repair/replace. Bit pissed off but wanted it sorted. The noise was getting worse. Sony support said it was a known issue.

Sounds like the culprit is a dodgy batch of capacitors that are humming and vibrating at weird frequencies.

I would best describe the noise like someone using an electric razor, it fluctuates depending on how hard the graphics/action is pushing the GPU. dies back down in menus but is constantly there. did my head in.

sent it back last Thursday so will report back how long it takes and if it is actually fixed

It sounds horrible. I'd have done the same thing.

Same, for the big cost of that console you don't want to be compromising or putting up with anything

Do you all plan on getting the most from the technology by purchasing a 144hz monitor?

Nah I'm not all that driven by that side of things. will get an 8k tv next upgrade but that is way off and not a priority. My main motivation for getting a PS5 was faster loading time and (Ironically) quieter console noise.

was really happy with the actual experience of it all just ruined by the racket it was making. jumping into multiplayer lobbies from the dash is a great Idea.

also worth adding I was sceptical of the Dual Sense's tech, felt it might be another Sony underused misstep like Six-axis but it is genuinely great. felt really odd not having the feedback on the triggers going back to PS4.

Swap the hdmi from the original cable they give you, much better performance

I am still waiting for that big game title for it, nothing I have played on there has floored me as being next level yet. The hog warts game looks like the right step in the right direction plus hopefully the next zero dawn game will do that.

Was waiting on smyths this morning to get one, all the way through to putting bank details in, placed order and got an error. About the 3rd time this has happened now. Not worth the hassle anymore, will wait til can buy in store

Had similar with GAME a few weeks back, kicked me out right as i was making the purchase, so frustrating. I had given up but my brother in law happened to be awake when Argos did a drop at 3am so he bagged me one

It's crazy that 6 months after release it is still a battle to get one of these consoles. I was lucky enough to get one early December and didn't realise people were still fighting over them every time a small batch was released. Truly a monumental fuck up in supply by Sony.

The pandemic has had a big impact on the component market tbf. Plus with no ability to go out I'm sure demand will be even bigger than they could have anticipated.

I can't stress enough, as a bit of a gaming geek... How much more important FPS Is than Resolution..

Fortunately the ps5 doesn't have too many games utilising it's 120 FPS capacity at the moment.. But in the next couple years that should change.

Frames win games 👌
Smooth as butter too

Framerate has never been something that's bothered me but having last played Days Gone on PS4 I've found it runs in 60fps on PS5. It still looked great before but it's bizarre how different it suddenly looks. Means I'll shit it from a horde that much smoothly now

That's a game I'm looking forward to playing. Never got round to it on ps4 but from what I've read that's a good thing with all the improvements they've made since launch, plus now the improved FPS to boot. Got mine Wednesday, getting used to the new UI. Lovely having no noise!

To put it in a way that best explains it... Everybody used to watch telly in 480 or 720 p back in the day, then when 1080p released in full HD the difference was big, you could see it... Then 4 k hit and again the difference is huge.

The difference between the smoothness and responsiveness of games at 60 hz and 144hz or 120 hz... Is the difference in picture quality between 4k and 720p basically, its big and its hard to go back (an example of how much better it is)

If you are playing on a 60hz TV... You will only ever see 60 hz, even if the game runs at 120 hz

What a game that was. still remember absolutely shitting it when I bumped into my first hoarde in a cave! Never thought I could wipe them out but did Later in the game. Did they do any expansion of the game?

Just started Spider-Man, very impressed looks great and plays well. Only issue is that you need to learn 4000 moves in the game which is a tad annoying

Fantastic game, thoroughly recommend it. I bought it about a year ago, after they'd ironed out all the bugs etc. & it's one of my best gaming experiences in recent years.
