CET Fans Survey (3 Viewers)

When we took on AB, I realised they had really lost it and were trying to go down the cheap route and I knew it was always doomed.

I just couldn't comprehend that their plan really was throw 6-7 million at players in one go and expect to get up in that season. Then if we dont, plan B was ................. ah there wasnt one.
Unbelievable madness. For a hedge fund entrusted to invest peoples money.

The thing is, with the quality that we still had then, we should have been play-offs at least, unfortunately our "football man" Chairman appointed Coleman.

Its just so frustrating to think about it.

Back then Westwood, Dann, Fox and Gunnar in one team

To be fair to the fans who took the survey, at that point we had only sold Dann and that was for 3.5 million. I imagine they though that this money would be used on new signings

Here is more of a breakdown.

http://videos.icnetwork.co.uk/coventrytelegraph/Final sky blues results.pdf

Think that in the accounts for that year it actually showed a total of £3.5 million for both Fox and Dann, despite the bollocks from Ranson.

Think the "hands off" warning in the press by Ranson the December before was really a badly disguised plea for somebody to please come and buy them as we're broke.

Yea Coleman hugely underachieved we should have been serious play off challengers with the squad.

Westwood
Gunnarson
Dann
Fox
Best
Tabb
Ward
6 of them players are in premiership teams now

Instead the wally persisted in playing the likes of Stephen Wright and David Bell

You are forgetting how rubbish we actually were! I don't think a side with Wood at CB and Morrison and Eastwood up front was EVER in danger of making "at least the playoffs"! Coleman or not, those players were not good enough, and SISU had clearly not invested close to enough to be "expecting" the playoffs!

But realistically, 3 of them are maybe genuine Prem quality in Dann, Best and Westwood: two of them have lost their place, the other got relegated last season. They were all younger and rawer players when we had them, too. The rest are decent Championship players, no more-it's just it's been so long since we had many of them, that that lot suddenly seem a lot better than they were/are!

Wood wasn't at the club that season, quite a sum invested in Eastwood, which most thought good business at the time(Many decrying "Mad Mick" for letting him go to us, the idiot!)

Your grasp of past events does seem to waver somewhat.

Who has? That's why its pointless.

Why dont you email the CET and find out how many did instead of suggesting no one has.

You may find it is 500-1000 people , you may find it is insignificant like you make out ie 50 people or less.

If they supported your view would you still be so critical of the survey?

I would be the same - not knowing of it's existence.

Someone seems to suggest 700 people voted but I have not seen that yet.

If it is true, that is a good dip sample of Cov fans to me.

Except all of them could be Villa fans having a laugh and 46% of them tick the box that says they are season ticket holders.

I prefer to survey win ratios - do you want to go back to 1917?

That was a slow bite ,Dongon your post was fine in origonal format,KD the fact you never new of its existance does'nt make it invalid .It was referenced on here a few times. Its generally a good cross section on here ,who are types motivated enough to comment ,pretty much the same who would respond in the CT.

No I am happy with stats published 21st June 2012 far more relevant.

Westwood hasn't been given much of a chance, he seemed to be playing well and was dropped.
I would say Gunnarson, Fox and Ward were no more than just decent championship players, they are top end players imo.

On Ward he won his place in the Norwich side on 11th February in the preimership. Since then till the end of the season he has started all but one in game, he had a pre season injury last season so he didn't start the season and then other players had already earned the shirt for the first half of the season. Lambert obviously thought he was premier league quality.

I think Coleman underachieved with his 17th place finishes, I wouldn't say we should have been the play offs but we should have been challenging more than we were. I would say 9-12th place should have been relatively easily achievable.

Haven't you said before Andy Thorn with the squad/resources Boothroyd, Coleman etc. have had he would have us challenging at the top. How then does it work that Coleman didn't underachieve?

I guess it will academic if thorn doesn't get the financial backing he wants as he will be off

He never said that apparantly. Sky blue talk have officially re-written history.

He said he agreed to stay on the assurance that he will be helped to get players in.

People are free to interpret that any way they want.

You are free, no one says you can't interpret anyway you want

My interpretation is he was asked to stop on and he said yes, you know things need to change and I need players dont you and TF said yes.

I don't interpret it as "will you stay on on?" Only if you give me new players and if you say yes, then don't whatever change of circumstances or explanantion you give me I am going to quit my job and give up any form of compenstation"

The club has asked me if I will stay and I have asked for assurance that they will give me some help with some good players coming in. We'll just take it from there. I've spoken to them and said that it needs to be restructured and sometimes out of this you can come back stronger

You can t expect him to take another season with literally nothing to work with. Why would he do that?

Come on Macca surely you know...as its super Andy, hero of the Sky blue masses.

oh and of course who else would employ someone with such a dismal record..one of our worst ever.....but at least he gets the lads giving 210%
He is great scout of course, on occasion, but for every good one there has also been a Bell, or a ROD.

Personally I hope he sods off soon along with SISU, I and am sick of it all, and apologise for my childish rant but that is the way I feel.

If anyone wishes to argue this view feel free, but I dont care today, and like a brat will not listen to reasoned arguement. Tomorrow though is another day;)

Moff, you're not alone in the way you feel. I would rather not have Thorn, but if he has to stay then i will get behind him. If players do come in and the failure continues then he has no where to hide.
Of course those that are pro Thorn will comeback with the " he can't afford the players he wants" excuse even after new recruits come in. Every manager in the league can't afford the players he wants, apart from the Man City manager.

I'am going to give him the chance to change my mind, but come November and we are bottom 4, and after squad additions, then i will want him to go forth and multiply.

Or that it takes more than one season with no players to perfect football management.

Ah, some really do only see what they want to see.
