Wonder who will go out now?

Kasta if anyone will have him, Max almost certainly, Williams and Thompson on loan maybe. Somethings got to give at AM as well, Jones out on loan? Shipley won’t be going anywhere. Ditto O’Hare and Hilßner. Allen I doubt as well. Jones is going to have to play out of his skin to get into the side.

We need to have a strong core of 18-21 players to compete, different options and strength in depth to cover injuries.

Frankly, we need to address the WB slots. Probably still need a permanent option at LWB, definitely need cover at RWB too. CM is still a need, someone like Sheaf is what we need, and another option too.

For me, at least 3-4 new bodies need to be brought in.

Just realised that Tyler Walker was 1 goal behind Toney in January. Toney went on to finish very strongly in a free-scoring P’boro side. But, given that P’boro want £5-10m for Toney, we’ve got a striker who is very good value for money, in my opinion.

Does anyone have an idea of what we paid for Walker? It wouldn’t surprise me if we paid around £1m for him.

When I was looking at news articles about him a few weeks ago it was suggesting he’d be available for £750-800k. If it is that price he’s an absolute steal.

Nah, strength in depth in defence is OK now, just a big hole at DM currently filled by Eccles and out of position AMs.

LWB: Giles/Mason/Dacosta
RWB: Dabo/Dacosta/Pask
CB1: Østigård/McFadz
CB2: Rose/Pask/Dacosta
CB3: Hyam/Drysdale
DM: Hamer/???
DM: Kelly/Eccles
AM: O’Hare/Jones/Jobello/Kasta
AM: Allen/Shipley/Hilßner/Bapaga
ST: Walker/Godden/Baka/Max

Knowing our luck, if this COVID lockdown on large gatherings continue, Cov will win the league this season, so it would be twice we couldn't celebrate with the team or have an open top bus parade.
We hadn't won a league for 52 years and then we get two that we can't celebrate with the team.
I’ll take that

In our circumstances, there isn’t going to be many better options on the market for us. Prolific in the lower leagues, a few Championship goals and is 23 years old.

Early stages, there’s a lot to like about this transfer.

Don’t necessarily disagree with this. I’d rather have the framework of a team on a permanent basis, using loans to supplement with quality far above what we can afford. If Mason’s not got a chance, I’d rather we replace him with someone to really challenge Giles. Shame as I do like Mason.

RWB I don’t know - we have 2 but both injured. Depending on when Dabo is back I might just leave it; at worst a loan til January.

I may have missed something, but is Dabo going to be fit for the season start? With DaCosta, he’s got a knee ligament injury, is it an ACL or MCL? The latter would have him out for about 6-8 weeks, and we all know what ACLs are like... Pask is a good, but probably not a long term solution if we have long term absences. At LWB, it doesn’t look like Mason is going to get a proper look in, which is a shame.

I think it’s inconceivable we wouldn’t improve our central midfield options. Eccles doesn’t seem to be ready for Championship football in the absence of Hamer or Kelly. Shipley, O’Hare not Allen would suit the deep CM slots in our system.

Possibly an extra striker to come in on loan or something.

I made this point to some clown on twitter earlier. Toney hasn't played or scored about L1 level whereas Walker has. Their records are comparable except one is being sold for £10m (I bet it is no more than half that in reality)

I’m happy with RWB if DaCosta isn’t sidelined for the whole season. If it’s an ACL, we could do with a loanee coming in.

I like Mason too, but he’s more of a traditional LB, and Robins probably wants a more attacking WB.

I’m not 100% sure on the timescales of our players returning.

I don't think we'll offload much, we need a big squad for what will be a tough season, congested fixture list, players coming off furlough. I think we might put players like Max out on loan but not permanently.

I’m happy Forest recalled Walker because had he scored 20-25 goals, there’s no way we’re getting him for less than £1m.

Toney had a great season in an attacking team, and at the minute is most likely the better striker than Walker. But, Walker is a year younger, and scored a lot of L1 goals for a lower mid table side.

I can’t help but thinking we’ve nabbed a very good transfer here. In perspective, we may have paid less for Walker than what we got for Chaplin. Very good dealing!

The squad all in is now nearly 30 players, at least a few ought to be loaned out or sold

We’ve got 7 players + Bapaga for two AM slots. No way are we signing another.

We have got 7 players. And you're probably right. But Robins is ruthless and I'm hoping that he thinks we need an upgrade. Out of the 7 I'm certain Kastaneer and Jobello couldn't play the role and I have my doubts over Jones too.

Wow. What a great signing. Good age, decent length contract. Very good goalscoring record. Well done recruiting! Two promising young players at either end of the pitch in 2 days - fabulous work.

Have you considered we may try 3-4-3 in some games? In the same way we’d switch to 3-4-1-2 when chasing a winner/equaliser.

Last season, the 3-4-2-1 shape with the ‘box’ came about because we had no strikers nor wingers available.

lets hope Tyler will be as good as the last forward we got from Forest
If he is only as good as the first forward we got from Forest during my years as a supporter it wouldn't be too bad either.

Tommy Capel scored 19 goals in 34 appearances for us in Division Three (South) in 1954/5. That was after spending four and a half years at Forest where he scored 72 goals in 162 appearances in all competitions, but mostly Division Two.

My understanding was Dabo is back training and will be back before Rose who is back in October. I didn’t think it was worth spending budget on cover in that case. Pask is good enough to fill the gap and long term Dacosta will be back for backup.

If Dabo isn’t likely to be back next month then yeah maybe a loan until Jan.

If we play 2 upfront the 3 in middle need to be hard workers. Kelly hamer are a must. Then someone like Shipley or allen too

Can play a jones or o hare as number 10 but may lose midfield battle time to time

The MK done goals from godden were exactly what you want to see. As always we need to creatw more clear cut chances per game but if we can it looks like we have the firepower now to take them

O'Hare is about as hard working as it gets. I'm not sure what game people watch at times

He runs around a lot but as more of a harrier. I wouldn't want him coming too deep personally

You do this alot btw. Say rude stiff to anyone who doesn't see it like you. I used to do that but i grew up. Try it

Your post implied they needed to be hard working not deep lying players. Your lecture was unnecessary and I deserve an apology.

It's a 3 man midfield so going to be deeper. O hare be better as number 10 behind the strikers for me with 2 hold9jg behind him. He can still pressure but not relying on him winning physical battles infront of defence or anything
