Car headrest TV monitor - installation - help please! (1 Viewer)

Hello everybody,

Purchased a car headrest monitor,

Thought it'd be simple to install - but no!

It basically has two wires, a 12v and earth (?) (plus additional Audio/video in etc coloured plugs for a DVD player I guess)

I need power to the unit - so guessing it comes from the bare 12v wire! (??)
Guessing that needs to like to the 12v plug in the car ! (??)

.....but how do i do that?
.....is it easy? (I dont want to (or can't!) start taking the car apart!)

Looked for an adapter to plug int 12v plug, one of the links, has, what i think (after research) is an 8 pin mini din plug - can't find anywhere that does an adapter to a 12v plug?

Can anybody help me here,

Can I do this myself, or where could I get this done!!??

My car is a 19 plate 208

Thanks in advance!

Can you not get a cable that goes into the cig lighter that gives 12v and connect it to the cables for power to the screen?

Easy

Cheers for reply Nick,
Spent hours last night looking for something like that, the thing that I think might be an "8 pin mini din" connector seems really difficult to fine anything that will allow it to connect to the 12v plug - looked for a 12v car plug to 8 pin adaptor.... nothing!

Could I strip the mini din from the wire and try to attach a 12v plug (easily said than done for me though!!)

There's loads of videos on YouTube - here's one......

Why not just carry a portable DVD player?

Great suggestion!! Thanks Corrado... we now have power!....
So.... how/where do I download Mp4 movies!????
No problem - Back in my youth I had quite the set up in my car...two sun visors screens - two head rest screens, flip out screen in the dash and a PS2 in the glovebox, had to park facing downhill as it would drain my battery every time we played :woot:
