I genuinely don't get why you're all spending so much time looking into this. None of you are qualified. worry if you want to but don't freak out. Official advise is to wash your hands, get tested if you think you could have had contact and don't panic buy. Worrying like shit isn't going to stop you getting it.

Yeah but, where else can we all argue like we're experts about something we know nothing about?!?! Ahhhhh, the Brexit thread I hear you say!

Thanks. Probably TMI, but I see 20 year old me all over the place at the moment. I’d guess those that have had the full-on actual flu aren’t quite so casual about the whole thing. It isn’t very nice and I just think people need to take this seriously.

For anyone that is unsure if they’ve had the flu, the answer is no. You would know if you had.

I am also medically immunocompromised. And have two snotty children, we rely on others not to be that person that doesn’t give a shit.

Agree pal, I had the Asian flu 1974 think it was. I was still working in a factory then. I was young and fit but it completely wiped me out, I didn’t know you could be that ill.
I have had colds and “man flu” many times since then. But I have never had flu and never want it again.
Wouldn’t even wish it on a Sunderland fan, ok the last bit might be a bit of a fib.

It’s been drawn by a child if you actually have the numbers it can’t work like the projections made

I had swine flu, not going ape shit. If it increases by 33% per day then it increases by 33% per day. Moaning about people not worrying isn't going to change things. As long as we wash our hands what else can we do.

I am in the field of probability and statistics though which is why I have asked to see the data so I can try and work out how they are coming to this conclusion

Running joke about how someone said they’d like to see Giles given a go and cc4l lost his shit saying anyone who doesn’t want to play McCallum for every second of every match is a loser who gets their football knowledge from video games.

It gives a false impression to people that cant read graphs
No mate, a quick glance it looks like the amount of cases in Italy and Iran and not that different to the number of cases in the uk.

It seems to be intentionally misleading.

Bollocks - it gives a false impression to people who can read graphs too

33% of nothing is nothing
you need to understand what the initial level is and from that use the data to plot the peak
if the initial figure for UK was 10 people infected and for Italy was 100 - the peak for Italy will be 10 times greater (italy and UK have similar populations)

so the pattern may be the same, but the graph is misleading

Was just chatting to a bloke in the post office and he said his mate who is a Wasps season ticket holder was bragging that the council and Wasps have colluded to make up a story about a virus to stop us from winning the league.
"mate" and "Wasps season ticket holder" in the same sentence? A good enough reason not to be mates if you ask me...

Once you've understood the units on the x and y axis and understand what they show, then look at the detail inside.

I don't think it was designed as a "quick glance" graph for simpletons. You might be best off leaving it.

Im out

Behind closed doors games is the way to go. I don’t care if we go through to August as long as the league is completed. Or end the season and give everyone draws. 77pts for city and Champions will do me!
One way or another this has got to end the way a normal league season finishes.

relegation is sorted apart from Tranmere.

the team with most wins and including fewest defeats should be up automatically.

end the season but make the third to 8th play off in a mini league format. if the same happened at the bottom then so be it.

Feel free to rip it apart.

I'd agree with that.

Teams on the peripheries would kick up a fuss and complain but this is an extenuating circumstance so fuck em.

My mates little brothers group of mates apparently got sick of arguing once and decided to all flop their cocks out to create a hierarchy so all future arguments could be settled by cock size.

Im already drafting my proposal to the EFL. Robins has that big dick confidence.

WHO has now classified it as a global pandemic.
Cases in the UK have had their highest 24 hr jump since the outbreak in the past 24 hrs.
European games cancelled (although I appreciate it's mainly involving Italian clubs).

Not looking great now. Even I'm starting to take a bit more notice and I've been saying there's been a massive overreaction to it all.

Washing my hands isn't going to make sure we get the promotion we deserve.... that's all i'm worried about. Not overly fussed if i catch it myself or not!

I got Asian flu during the 1957 epidemic. I was 10 years old and have never felt so ill in my life. I thought that I was dying.

Highest is all relative, it's still compared to other countries a smallish increase. Corona Viruses tend infect in clusters as well so you can see bigger jumps every now and then.

The best advise is dont panic, be careful and you should be fine.

Keep coming across twitter threads where a surprising number of people are advocating for the season to be annulled, some of them respected individuals, although others clearly have a vested interest in that happening.

I can't believe this would actually happen, but seeing so many calling for it is worrying. Of course, health is more important than football, but surely at the worst the season would just be suspended? China and Korea have shown that it is possible to control the outbreak. Hopefully the EFL keep a cool head.

Can you compare country to country anyway? The figures will really be the minimum number of cases and as each country has different levels of testing you aren't comparing like with like.

Indeed but it gives the reader a rough idea of the number of cases in those countries, that’s all it’s supposed to do.

I read a great article on Medium earlier which had a wealth of data but every time I try and post a link the link is screwed up...

Spoke to a hospital doctor I know earlier this morning
He said all routine appointments are being cancelled and wards cleared of everyone who can go home as they expect to be overwhelmed in two weeks or so

It doesn’t if you look at either axis. It’s just showing that the growth rate is broadly the same so in a week or so when we catch up with Italy in terms of number of days since detection we will have a similar number of cases. All variables being equal, which of course they’re not.
