As a way of trying to rationalise us finishing in the top two I'm looking at the table and seeing who are likely to catch us if our form changes. Based on the table, who would you say is currently out of the running for top 2?

Everyone below Fleetwood. Wycombe are within reach but like I said weeks ago are on their way down. Donny have an extra game in hand but are dropping points. Oxford look decent but their last 5 games, all wins, have been against lower teams. Before this they played 3 teams near the top and got 1 point.

Rotherham look like the next team to fall away. Only 6 points from last 5 games. We were the only side they played in the top half.

Are we the only side that the pressure hasn't got to?

Anybody's guess.

Anyway, us champions with Oxford 2nd is my prediction.
Oxford have 9 games left. Not done very well recently against the sides near the top.

A Wycombe
H Portsmouth
A Coventry
H Fleetwood

Everyone had them as a banker to beat Rochdale too. Not looking amazing for them right now.

Donny win their game in hand and only 5 points off 2nd with 9 to play
Donny can't put a win run together. They keep losing games.

if we lose 4 , then we are in the mix with the others, and would need to win 4 or 5 out of the other 6

Win 2 of the next 3 and the line will be in sight

To be fair I think they are the two best teams in the league.
Oxford beat 5 lower sides last 5 games. 3 games before that were against sides near the top.

Lost to Sunderland at home, lost 4-0 to 10 men Peterborough and drew with Burton.

Exciting ain't it. Every season a team puts a run together to seal the title. I backed Northampton to win league 2 a few years ago and they went on a run scarily similar to ours where they just kept winning. Even when not winning, not getting beat it was something like 19 unbeaten once the season ended. If I were a mutual football fan I'd say cov title looks incredibly likely

Starting to think Peterborough could be the ones to join us in the top 2. They're a bit inconsistent but so dangerous on their day. Only team we have left that worry me.

One man team though ennit, if they didn't have Toney they would be mid table

I can’t really see anyone getting more than 78 to 80 points it’s really going to be a failure of epic proportions to not cross the line now

Oxford are the only team on a surge and have signed a lot of players so they might finish well but the rest I can’t see much happening

3 wins may be enough 4 for sure

I fancy Peterborough or oxford for second...

I rekon 4 will be enough

Just imagine if we'd of held on and won some of our draws!! We'd be into double figures ahead lol... we'd probably be on 75/80 points
My point being is we are saying that and we have daylight at the top. Imagine finishing third or 7th by a point or goal difference like some seem likely to do then think of the games you've thrown away.

I think it will be determined by the mix of who plays who within the top 6 and those results. We just have to keep doing what we do and try and get those 5 or 6 wins I believe would be enough.

But they also need to keep winning. 5 wins and 1 or 2 draws should do it for promotion. I think last weekend helped because the others slipped up.

Updated Fixtures for Top 8. The most points any of the chasing pack can get is 89 points but only 2 teams can in reality get to this figure (Wycombe and one of either Portsmouth or Fleetwood) as they have to play each other. If Rotherham get 89 points (Highly unlikely) then none of Portsmouth, Fleetwood or Wycombe can as they will have all lost to Rotherham. I'm thinking we only need about 82 points for top 2 at most (5 wins, 5 losses) but could be as low as 79.

Well, if the article in yesterdays Times is anything to go by, Fleetwood will be champions. It mentioned Rotherham but not us. Remarkable but not unexpected media reporting as usual.

Not sure what this is suppose to show but you have Sunderland and Rotherham both losing on the final day when they play each other? Also us and Wycombe both winning when we play each other...

I fancy Fleetwood, they are going like a train at the right time, tough team to play and a manager in Joey Barton who can motivate and seems to get that little bit extra from his players got big match tonight and Rotherham at home coming up so obviously crucial games I fancy them to get something from both.
