34% for that section presumably as some % is earmarked for police or other services etc.

Joke really, unless they can measure where it actually goes and makes a difference it will simply be another tax.

It's definitely a typo/error - has to be 3.4%.

Would make the new figure just over £1531 a year from £1479. Anyone in WDC confirm that's what it was last year (sounds about right though)

EDIT: Unless it means just one small part of the bill is increasing by 34% from about £150 to £200

It is. That one portion is rising 34%.

Sounds like they are justifying where it goes: replacing bin lorries, planting trees, insulating council homes, etc.

Sadly to meet these targets and make real change on the green agenda it is going to need some serious cash! And guess who foots the bill!

I know we can all do our bit, but so many things we can do ourselves that will have a greater impact and also peeing in the wind when you look at some other countries tgat make you think whays the point. Tbh wdc ate box yicking, it's futile and if tgey asked the residents I think it would ne an overwhelming and emphatic no.

This has been floated for about 6 months now, surprised it’s taken this long for comment. I think it’s a fair idea, what’s £50 over a year?

Fair enough, but it should be paid by everybody and come from central government, not local. Why should I pay it when someone in Stratford or Coventry doesn't? If this was a national thing, i.e. all council's doing then fair enough. Why not just spend the £300K it'll cost to hold the referendum on "green" projects?

Easy to say from someone who hasn't got to pay it. £50 is £50.

torchomatic I feel sure by the end of the day SBAndy will be in touch offering to pay your share after all "what's £50 over a year.

I'll add a zero on the end, but don't tell him.

The problem is we don’t have a national government taking it seriously though. Same as the States, where individual states are having to take action for the same reason. “They’re doing it too” is never a good excuse for bad behaviour. Frankly I hope it works and other councils follow suit.
