Robins and the team (1 Viewer)

Have they saved the club this season with their success?

is that going too far?
The season will only be a success if we are promoted.
I fear if we don't go up that things will start to unravel on the playing side.
Especially if we are still in Birmingham.
Promotion should put more pressure on Wasps and a return to Coventry.
Really feel it is promotion or bust. This is what makes me so nervous about every game, and so frustrated about the shenanigans from the Trust/CWR/CovTel and twitter accounts.
Robins has made this season so much more bearable (possibly wrong word!- enjoyable may be better) but has not saved the club.... yet....
Unless there is something positive going on behind the scenes regarding getting back to Coventry, this season is basically up or bust....
Also, the efforts of people on here and associated with here (likes of yourself obviously + others) are contributing to the club possibly being "saved".
I'm shitting myself about the rest of the season!!.... especially with the games coming up.

Without doubt it’s made a difference it’s kept the average home fan attendance at about 5000, I think it would have been a lot lower had we been bobbing about in mid-table.

How would it be a lot lower we have 3,000 season tickets

Remember we have achieved nothing yet, like everyone else auto's would be brilliant, but to achieve this alot of work still needs to be done,Robin's needs to keep the team focused, which i believe he is doing,ii feel if we go up,we will be back at the Ricoh next season although nothing concrete, however if we don't i am sure we will it could be the start of a serious slide, losing players which would be inevitable and possibly Robins himself,i just cant see him hanging around when other clubs would warrant his services,we have to go up otherwise it could be disaster, only my thinking of course..so keep focused support the team and prey we do it.

Yes it has to be our time this season.I like many can see us going backwards again if we don’t get out of this league this year.
Lets not forget that next season barring promotion, there will be a mass exodus of players and combine that with a budget based on 5000 on average that went to “home games” and I think we will be snookered!

I am 100% team robins, but if we didn't go up this season and he walked away, that would be bad form.

don't agree. cant see the mass exodus. it will be very stable, both in terms of crowds, squad ability and income

none of that is good though !

A promotion this season would go a long way towards bringing Alot of supporters back and potentially gaining a new generation of fans....

Playing In Coventry though

It simply has to be in Cov next season whatever happens , when you think back Brighton were playing their games at a running track so it can be done , oust Wasps or at least get back some parity at the Ricoh , enough is enough we aren’t like Brighton circumstances but we must must play in Coventry to be able to build rather than tread water

Again this purely depends on where the club play next year - gates at Birmingham don’t seem that influenced by results

Promotion and outside Coventry is a recipe for disaster

MR and the team have created a positive buzz around the club and the city. That is a definite. But have they "saved" the club ? Personally, I'd say no. We're doing well and have 6000 passionate fans that travel to Stans each home game but that figure hasn't changed much all year, regardless of where we are in the table. Championship or League One, if we're struggling next year, can we still see those same 6000 wanting to travel to see their home games ?

Now a sad admission. For the second time in 2020, I'm having to agree with Grendel :) Birmingham fans and Pep Clotet have been commenting on the poor playing surface at Stans so if the Birmingham board thinks that will affect their position and survival chances next season, I can't see us being welcomed back. And if we get promoted (we have a very good chance but it's still an IF in my eyes), where we play will financially make or break the club.

Don’t disagree but need to deal in facts. Pretty certain it’s not a rolling contract it’s a three year deal at St. Andrews that can be broken at any time

By definition there will be a big turnaround of players

The loans obviously
The released players - Hiwula, Bakayoko, Wakefield
Players who we want off the books - Kastaneer the obvious one
Players in demand elsewhere - Dabo definitely and possibly Rose and Hyam

The McCallum money is likely to have covered substantial losses which will be ehe watering

It’s absurd to assume there will not be some loss of support and declines in playing quality

Are the accounts 28/2?

Why ? We lost players this close season first teamers like Burge, Willis first team regular loans like Bright, Thomas and Sterling all played in our last game last season as did Mason and Hiwula add Chaplin and Grimmer. All replaced are we better or worse this season ?
Plus Bayliss I forgot him

Because our losses will be getting worse. Not only the losses in crowd revenue but costs of the actual move. The McCallum money will absorb losses but nothing more I would have thought

Is it too soon to say that I'll miss League 1?

This season has been utter joy so far, Although we obviously had better footballers when in the PL etc, this season in terms of entertainment, and nearly always being the better side in games, has been incredible. Just need to get it over the line. Bound to be the odd defeat (with the games we have left), but by the same token, there should be enough victories to get the job done with the team we have.

Robins will be remembered as an excellent manager should we gain promotion and should we be back in Coventry it would set a series of events would be necessary to keep the club up in the Championship.
Football can be a cruel game, I would imagine that Liam Kelly would moved on after helping secure two promotions and McFadzean will be the same IMO, good enough for league one but not the championship, like his time at Burton Albion.
Our much talked about forward line would see some business out and some in. I can see some wanting a 15-18 goal Chaplin if we change places with Barnsley and it will be interesting to see where our transfer targets are located: above or below our standing. Robins has played the loan market like a maestro and would need to again.
Being a decent force in the championship would be the saving of our club if we are playing in Coventry.

Then it’s down to our owner to look for investors or sell up.

Sell up to who and investment means loans. Most championship clubs are in a black hole financially

If we want to attract championships players we need championship wages

also I think it adds another hurdle in getting back as wasos will see us purely as extra revenue for them

Grendel

It also potentially allows an extra season for us to grind it out too, if we can harness more income with the same wages.

OK, so the wins would be scarce...

That’s the other possibility but we’d be relegated by Christmas

1 thing Robins has brought back to the club is respect, we have been a bit of a laughing stock in recent years and he has turned us into a major force in league one but sadly with the low crowds by being away from our home city our success is slightly tarnished with the missed extra revenue playing in our home city would surely generate because of those knuckle draggle clog kickers destroying the pitch in our rightful home

If we are a Championship team then we are more viable to be sold so SISU can get out of this nightmare
