No park's Daz, done em years ago.

Gonna travel around a bit, using Orlando as a base.
Great time of year to visit, low to no humidity, rarely rains and less busy.

New York too. Third time in as many years. Just after coming home last time my mum and dad booked to go, we got jealous and booked to go same time as them! In May this time. Went March 2018 and July 2019.

Hoping to visit Auschwitz this year too.
Tommo we went to Krakow in July. Auschwitz is unmissable but take a tissue! And don’t think about not doing Birkenau while there.
If you have a spare few hours in Krakow, take a tram out to the site of Plaszow labour camp, which was the one featured in Schindlers List. Most of it has gone but on a summer’s day the emptiness is really thought provoking.
And go to the salt mines. Not war related but absolutely breathtaking in scale

I would also have a highly recommend Auschwitz although it's quite bizarre being in a death camp packed in with endless amounts of fat American tourists and Japanese people taking photos of every inch of the museum.

I preferred Birkenau although both combined are essential.

The salt mine was okay. I felt bored after about an hour and it's a slog but it's definitely interesting and insanely massive.

Not sure on your travel plans, but north - St. Augustine is good, south, Sarasota, Anna Marie Island and Sanibel Island\Naples are good.

"And here is some more salt ..." does get repetitive after two hours when all you're interested in is having a piss!!

I think we were reasonably lucky with our tour group in Auschwitz, although there was a Scandinavian family (i guess they don't do tours in Swedish?) who would not control their pre-teen kids, and the parents weren't much better. You recall the railway car at Birkenau? They were climbing all over it, and taking selfies of having a wonderful time. Another member of the group gave the kids a right bollocking down at the far end when they were climbing on memorials, etc. The family left soon after that!

I know what you mean about "preferring Birkenau", but does seem strange saying it in those terms, given what happened there!
Have tried to keep "spoilers" to a minimum for Tommo and anyone else who plans on going there.
Krakow is a lovely city too. A few too many stag & hen dos now though. But drink in the street and you'll probably get arrested!

Off the Benidorm on Thursday for 4 nights and then booked Croatia for 10 nights in June.

Going to do a mini tour - Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Hvar and Split. Not been before so really looking forward to it.

Off to centre Parcs again in October but also taking my eight year old sons best friend (we must be crazy). Might try and sneak a few days somewhere in a cottage in May.

Cheers BBB, we've done all them apart from Sanibel, so will take a look at that.
Loved St. Augustine with it's history, not normally a history buff!

Anna Marie Island is so laid back, enjoyed the vibe.

Naples is fun with a bit more night life going on but gorgeous beaches.

Early July a week in Turkey with the kids.

In September the wife and I are doing a fly drive to the West Coast of the US. Fly into San Fran and then over 18 days drive through Yosemite, Death Valley, Vegas, Phoenix, Palm Springs and finish in LA. We did a similar holiday 25 years ago.

I completely fell in love with Krakow. It's my favourite destination and I've been all over the world. There's just something about it that ticked every box for me. We went in early September and didn't see many stag or hen parties thankfully.

Did you try one of their chicken kebab stalls? Every night we'd walk from a town centre pub to our accommodation and I'd make sure to stop and get one. I crave them almost daily.

We were normally too stuffed from the generous portions in the restaurants to trouble the kebabists!

We'd usually get dinner around 8 then go to a pub, get loaded on strong Polish beer, and stagger out at 1am drunkenly talking about the ensuing kebab. One night at the kebab stand I got talking to an arms dealer. Mad place.

Loved it there myself, spotlessly clean. Nice bars and restaurants. Lovely architecture. I fancy trying out Wroclaw but two kids has put paid to such trips for now

The people are lovely too. I was surprised by just how civilised and respectful everyone was.

It also has to be said that the women in general were stunning. I don't think I clocked one muffin top or tramp stamp.

If you go anywhere near Sarasota and you like nature, this place is a must visit.
Myakka River State Park.
You can canoe on the river, see alligators and wild boar. They have guided tours.
Myakka River State Park
Also, I recommend a place called Crystal River, where you can see manatees:
Google it, there are tons of links.
There are so many great places within driving distance of Orlando.

Cheers Gaz,
The Crystal River looks ace, especially when you are able to swim with manatee, wife will be up for that!

We sometimes like to hire a motorised boat and sail it ourselves, as we did when visiting Caladesi Island for the day.
Nowt posh or expensive mind just great fun boat wise!

It seems quite popular to stay in "Aparthotels" (essentially an apartment, with a kitchen area and bathroom). We had one 30 seconds off the main square, and i recall it being dirt cheap. It's essentially self-catering, but they work with a Ukrainian cafe just down the street to do nice breakfast. But eating out is plentiful and pretty cheap, so don't think of staying half-board anywhere. There's always the chicken kebab stalls that FM was vaunting earlier!
I can get you the name of the place and costs if you want.

Cheers OSB. Yeah looking on all the sites there seems to be a few of them aparthotels, looking to cost around £450-500 for the two of us in October flights and hotel. If it’s just for sleeping and washing then why not.
