Anthony Joshua Vs Andy Ruiz 2 (1 Viewer)

I think AJ looked like a beaten man before Ruiz laid a finger on him. It's possible he lost his nerve fighting outside England and there's all sorts of rumours about a hidden illness. Ruiz out classed him though and ultimately that's all that matters.

The only real difference in the rematch is that Ruiz has lost a fair amount of weight and I worry that it'll be detrimental to his performance.

As far as Fury is concerned, I'm starting to think that Wilder will win the rematch. Yes, Fury is far better technically but Fury's head isn't in it at the moment. He's gone into WWE, released a book, sang a duet with Robbie Williams and a whole lot of other celebrity shit. He should be recuperating and focusing on the rematch. He also got seriously rattled in his last fight against a bum who tore open his eye and Wilder will target that eye hard.

Hard to compare any of the 3/4 now with older boxers, the size and weight is so disproportionate. Ali was usually sub 100kg’s, fury and aj are 115-117, that’s a massive difference.
AJ isn’t a poor boxer, but he isn’t a great, he is managed well and with an aim to make them all money.
Fury is the cleverest and sharpest and purist boxer and Wilder has the deadliest punch that can come from nowhere so calling any of them in a fight is difficult as the Fury Wilder contest showed.

I’d like AJ to win, I prefer our sportsman to be world champions rather than others, I’m not sure he will

Fingers crossed for an AJ win but im not convinced the first fight was a Lewis v Rahman type blip or 'lucky punch' for Ruiz.

Fury vs Wilder is another intriguing fight, might Fury see it out on points (with better judging)? Or did Wilder work him out late on and know how to get him out of there earlier in the rematch? I dont know how to call either fight but i do know i'd like to see Joshua vs Wilder if he can beat Ruiz.

Fury dropped his guard and tried to showboat a bit and Wilder found the space to lunge in.

I remember screaming at the TV for Fury to just play it safe. There's no way Wilder should have got the draw but the knockdown put enough doubt in it for the dodgy judges to get away with it.

I think the rematch will be very different as Fury is skinnier and his head isn't in the same place now. In the first fight Fury had something to prove but now he's become his own biggest fan and seems to enjoy the showbiz life as bit too much whereas Wilder has been quietly going about his business.

Makes me laugh how so many are writing Ruiz off and get taken in by the media hype around ‘AJ’ - it was the same with Khan.

Fury would also destroy ‘AJ’

Do you think Fury would stop Joshua?

I think you could be right, Fury has certainly been distracted lately and i dont think old Fisheyes Warren is happy about it. The thing with Wilder is that he can do next to nothing for round after round but the second a mistake is made (or maybe enhineered by Wilder) it's lights out.

All in all its more interesting than seeing the Klitschkos knock out a succession of boring fighters. Hopefully Dubois fulfills his potential as he could well be a major player at the top if so.

I think its actually more likely to happen if AJ loses the rematch, he'll be out with his begging bowl fighting Wilder for 20%. AJ wins and I fear we'll be back at the deadlock there was before the Ruiz fight

There's hardly media hype around Fury, if anything he has been deridied by the media compared to 'AJ' - and yes I do.

I guess you’re looking at different outlets to me. Fury is all over TV, all over social media, on several podcasts. He’s even got people actually talking about him as the lineal champion as if it means anything. The media love Fury which is crazy considering how he was viewed prior to the comeback.

I hadn’t seen anything from AJ until the media day at sky last week. All the Experts are split in regards to if he can win which is fair enough in my view.

Please link me to articles that are negative towards Fury’s boxing ability?

Im also shocked that you think Fury can knock AJ out when he couldn’t knock out Otto Wallin or Piantea. Am I right in thinking he’s only knocked down one opponent since his comeback and that was Seferi?

I do think February could go either way for Fury, a lot of talk that he's not having to lose weight in camp which until now he's always had to do, but agree he does seem to have a lot of distractions around him.

Expect his camp will be starting mid-December the next couple of months will show if he is fully focused.

If he is, this could be the best version of TF we've seen.

Yeah the fight is more likely if Joshua's stock is lower, id just prefer it if he beat ruiz before fighting Wilder

Pretty sure he knocked Schwarz down and basically got him pulled from the fight before he got ktfo. I'd agree that Fury isn't an especially big puncher by HW standards though.

At this particular time I don't see a way back to "the top" for Joshua. If he beats Ruiz he has to fight Wilder and / or Fury who will make mince meat out of him.

But he might have gone back to the drawing board since the Ruiz fight and worked on some fundamentals while getting his head straight.

I wouldn't write him off just yet. It'll be very interesting to see what happens in the rematch.

50/50 I couldn't bet either way

If you listen to Fury, he likes to be busy out of the ring and doesn’t focus on the fight until camp so I don’t think what he is doing now hurts him.
I think AJ/Wilder have knock out punches, I’m not sure Fury has that as much as them but he has ring craft well beyond them.

His performance in the rematch will be key for me. Prior to the 1st Ruiz fight i gave him a decent chance vs Wilder and possibly against Fury too. I think it will be fun finding out either way, Joshua vs Wilder has the potential to be spectacular.

Yeah it's a very good listen. Bunce is a bit of a loud mouthed oaf but he knows his stuff and Costello plays off him nicely with his softly spoken approach.

Yeah i do like Bunce as a storyteller, he's done some decent series on various topics that are worth a listen. Tales of the extraordinary or something like that.

Just spotted that the PPV fee is going to be £25 for Joshua v Ruiz, pretty steep!

Sky are probably aware it'll get lots of attention because it's on prime time in the UK whereas if it was on at 5am as usual it'd sell less.

Money grabbing fucks.

What does it matter if Fury stops him or not?

That’s a bit like saying do you think Joshua could completely outbox Fury for 12 rounds?

I thought Joshua sounded a bit nervous and unsure during his interview on the Bunce podcast.

His answer to how he would beat Ruiz next time was to "not get hit" but he didn't offer any suggestions as to how to avoid getting hit. He then said "He won't beat me twice will he?"
