When I was a kid in Dunchurch used to deliver the CET and the pink on Saturdays all around the area. Can still remember the round in detail 43 years later.
When I first got married it used to be a great excuse to nip out after the match and tell the wife "just going out to get a pink". Always involved a couple of beers down the Green Man or Dun Cow. Happy days !

Used to sell all my 'spares' at the side door of the Albany pub as well.
As I got older remember the fella selling them on Cov station and everyone piling off the train to get one after an away day. No internet and instant access to the results in those days!

Think the Pink died before social media really got going and I’m not sure at all it could make a successful comeback, newspapers are not popular anymore, I have three kids from 42 down to 32 all married none or their partners ever buy a newspaper. But the old pink was great especially in the Jimmy Hill days but that was also on the back of success,
There was an equivalent in Bristol, where i grew up, called The Green 'Un. It never failed to amaze me how it got to the newsagents before i could after a Rovers match!
The little Black bloke, Winston I think his name was, was always there when you got off thr train from away games. I always walked back from HR to walsgrave and got one on the way home to read on the walk. That was when CET was a proper newspaper none of the shit they put out now.
It would work if NO WASPS coverage was in it. Soon as they are mentioned in it then no way would the Coventry people read it or even think of buying it.
I can't really remember it much but my mother used to go on about it all the time "I can't wait to finger the pink tonight" I'd hear her say. She didn't even like football so it must have been a good read.
Maurice is still about. Many moons ago he would pop into the Open Arms bar and sell the last few. Well he would t sell it he would give you one and when you went to pay him he would say “just get me a pint!”.
He can be found in Greggs on the Daventry rd most Sunday mornings having an coffee and speaking to everyone that walks in bless him.
If the Telegraph fancied some easy money I'd definitely but a 'best of the Pink' book. Go back through he archives and dig out the match reports from our biggest games.
Still love reading a proper paper rather than internet. On the internet I skim read but with a paper copy in my hands I read it properly. If the pink ever came back I would pay to get it delivered to Gran Canaria if it was still in the original format. Loved it. Bet they cant get it here for 6 on a Sat though lol.
Used to go to the pub with my grandfather for about an hour after the game then hurry him up so we'd walk down to that little newsagent shop on the corner on the way to the ticket office (probably gone now). He'd pick up a box of cigs, some chocolate for me and the Pink 'un. He'd read it as he had his tea. One of the warmest memories i have of the man. Really was a part of the matchday experience back then.
There is a book full of headlines. More than just the pink I think. I have it somewhere....
They did have some good players. Always tough when my lads team played them, especially when happy reffed.. (cough*homer*cough)

Mine was religiously mailed to Canada and took about 10 days to arriveI was away at board school as a kid and my mum used to post me a copy of the pink every week. I used to love getting it every week, brilliant
I picked mine up at Dale’s newsagent in Hen Lane ( a spit from the Ricoh) the queue was often up to about thirty by the time it arrived

It was. And the rugby equivalent was Nimrod, who was Michael Austin (mostly, but others too). The Speedway guy was Broadside, but I can't recall the real name.
Great memories waiting for Pink delivery after being at HR or watching my old man play footy for Wickmans or Matrix/Highway Working Men's Club and eating faggot & pea batches with sports report in background. What Saturday evenings were made of.
