Anybody else think he might play better upfront with Baka or Biamou? Surely worth giving him a go as he's been awful on the left. Gives us a different option

I was more disappointed he didn't come out of the showers to take the pen... but seriously, if they stick with wing backs then yes, same goes for Kastaneer as he won't get in the team otherwise.

The big issue is with Godden and whether he needs surgery.

Certainly worth a go at some point, assuming he's not injured too long.

Given our on going injury issues I think it's bound to happen at some point.

Great idea. Play someone with fucking useless finishing and no composure in the most important part of the pitch, loving the logic.
The only reason he's playing out-wide is because we've tried him upfront already - only to realise he's garbage. The best place for him is with the 23s.

For those not paying attention, this post is about last seasons top scorer.

MR said he’s looking for someone to play up top with Godden.

Well worth exploring what we have before looking elsewhere as we haven’t played 2 up top for the majority of the season.

Something definitely isn’t right with Hiwula at the minute. The lad got 12+ last season so there’s a player there. Clearly a confidence player. Hopefully comes good. I agree, up top with a other could work.

clearly obvious last night we suit 3-5-2

Tbf he said he is looking for a number 9 to play with Godden, so he can play off them. Hiwula isn't a number 9.

I'd like to see Godden given a run up top with Biamou, and see what's available in January.

I'd like to see that as well but I've a feeling we won't be seeing much of Godden for a while.

I'll give you a clue. Runs fast, can't control, can't head, cant tackle, can't pass, can't shoot, really good at ruining amazing passages of football, wears number 11.

Your credibility was smashed with the McWankty name you came up with, showed how little you know about football then and it carries on. Stick to ornithology

I hold my hands up, I formed an opinion of that fat little wanker far too early. I've been watching Hiwula for more than 2 years now......

Well I gave this post a like, very funny. Although it may be well worth while playing Hiwula/Bakayoko up front with Max if Godden is out for any length of time, and then you may be proved wrong again!

One thing is for certain, we need to play two up front. In the last two games I saw, Wimbledon and Rotherham, I was struck by how isolated Godden was, and it would appear that the game against Fleetwood turned on that change of formation.

He concealed an injury from Robins in order to play on Wednesday and ended up aggravating it. Something not right with him upstairs perhaps

The EFL have confirmed who will be the match officials against Peterborough United Saturday afternoon at the Weston Homes Stadium.
Alan Young will be the man in the middle of the Sky Blues clash against the Posh in Sky Bet League One.

So far this season Young has officiated:
  • 3 League One games
  • 6 League Two games
  • 3 Leasing.com Trophy games
  • 1 Carabao Cup game
Young has officiated in 13 games during the 2019/20 campaign giving a total of 53 yellow cards and two red cards so far.

This will be Young's first game officiating the Sky Blues this season, with his last fixture coming in the 1-1 draw against Shrewsbury Town back in April 2019.

Always worries me when the majority of their games have been below the level we're at.

I think some people delight in writing players off. Hiwula needs to be more involved in games and has certainly missed some gilt edged chances lately. If there were others available, there is a case to be made for him being left out. To label him as “shite” or “garbage” as he has been described I think says more about the mentality of the poster than it does about the player.
Another “shite” player, Bakayoko, I thought had another poor game on Wednesday. However, his finishing for the goal was excellent. The height and trajectory of the ball made that a really difficult chance, yet the finish was top drawer. I didn’t realise until I saw the replay that it was also Baka who got his head to the cross and played it onto McCallum. I don’t think Baka is the answer (although I do still have hopes for Hiwula) but to write off players and describe them as “dog shit” as some on here have done is moronic.

I think this is one of the weirdest viewpoints I've seen in a while. What nonsense saying people delight in writing people off.

Mentality of the poster? What? Hiwula has so far this season played very poorly. People may be more passionate about expressing this because often those two inside forward positions were the missing pieces of the puzzle, and arguably the one thing that was between us and an being top of the league was his and one or two other's incompetence.
Aside from his woeful finishing, he offered very little when tracking back/defending, and often let his head drop and didn't chase things down when he/we lost the ball..couple of of times just walking back. His touch has also been abysmal.

Cherry on top with the penalty miss. Surely surely you just put your laces through it when you're taking a pen low on confidence and need a goal.

Odd.

People do. You see it all the time. That’s why I enjoy starting bets against people where their winning outcome is the player being shit. Rams the point home. People love moaning. Slagging players off yet go extremely quiet when they are doing well. Happens on here, happens in the pub, happens in the stands, happens with other clubs, it’s extremely common for England games. It’s what football fans do.

Not really. People are more emotional when explaining negativity/poor performances in Coventry players because it is a huge gap to our expectations. Fans hold our club ina really high regard and have hold our players to high standards. When they don’t meet them standards people get frustrated and passionate.
Naturally when players meet those high standards (so perform well), people are less vocal about this as they are simply content.

This is more the case for older fans I feel who are used to our club at higher levels.

This is very different to being happy when players are shit...

I see what you are saying Robbie. Hiwula is out of form and certainly short of confidence. A break from the front line would do him the world of good. It's a tricky one as not sure he's best suited for a 4-3-3 but as others have pointed out he's not convinced in a front 2 either.

But ISB could not be more right in stating that some posters (a loud minority perhaps) are never happier when they are slating our own players. Balanced criticism is more than warranted but some of the personal and at times totally poisonous criticism is perhaps not that helpful? Biamou for example has been described as 'a poor footballer and just not good enough for L1' and that was before he'd played any minutes after a long injury. He sure made a number of people on here look stupid given his performance on Wednesday - and it was telling that those who had been slagging him off did not put their hands up to what they had previously written.

I'm more than old enough to have watched Danny Thomas (!) so very used to our club at higher levels - but right now the reality is that we are a L1 team (albeit progressing well). I'm never happy when players underperform but I certainly trust Robins in making the required changes - he's done an excellent job of evolving the team over 2-3 seasons now.

It really puzzles me how fans want to write off a player who got 14 goals for us last year.

It's sort of irrelevant in the sense that people are concerned on his performances this season. Leon Best was arguably half decent for one game years back, doesn't mean he should be playing for England.

Hiwula has been shocking all season and should have been dropped had we had anyone else. I certainly don't take delight in saying that, but it is the truth.

He’s got 4 this year. Arguing he’s playing poorly is a different debate, most are saying he’s shite which as we know clearly isn’t true
