OK the club(the business) is massively in debt, the team have no passion or loyalty to the club nor will any new players because the club is just a business. we don't have a ground. What we do have is great but expensive for the club to hire for each game.(we can not afford it) The catering at the ground is all sub contracted out and NO money goes to the club. the corporate side (sorry you die hards but the prawn sandwich brigade are important and provide revenue) get a poor shoddy service and even then most of the money collected by the Club (the business) goes to pay the enforced subcontractors. Did you know that even if you try to support the club and purchase a scarf or a shirt the club ( the business) don't own the rights anymore. oh and let us not mention the over zealous stewards who often make match day a misery and a wind up !

Why not go back to grass roots football. stuff the RICOH lets go down a few leagues, do a deal with the butts stadium and share the ground with Coventy RFC. it would give the Butts money to build the new stand that they have planning for but not the cash. Get football back to where it should be local players with a cause, COVENRT CITY!. this is not such a daft idea. its been done before. "Watford" and just look at Leamington FC. A rebirth from nothing just a handful of real supporters with unbelievable league success over the past few years, good honest football and a future with fan base that get it and a financial base they can afford.

I understand your view Paxman II and Im not being negative i think is a positive. the club is financially stuffed and has been for some time ago. its not a unique problem to CCFC its a football problem. in short so many clubs are simply punching above their financial weight including CCFC. There are many views why football in general is in the position and you can take what ever view you like but the sad fact is supporters all over the country are week in week out being short changed with lack luster teams thrown together governed by the financial restrains of the club.
As Danny Baker once sad some years ago over the famous pie throwing indecent " football is just a form of entertainment like any other" the rubbish offered up this season and last and last and last is not entertaining.
Like i said in the original post you can go and watch good honest football at leamington FC at a faction of the cost of CCFC. But i don't want to watch Leamington I want to Watch the team from Coventry my home town.

I think the team have plenty of passion and fight about them actually-they just aren't very good footballers, particularly when it comes to the important bit-scoring goals!

As far as the OP goes-that's not something you do by choice, trust me-and I know some AFC Wimbledon fans. It's something you do when you have zero club whatsoever, and no alternative. I'd rather stay with SISU than start again in something like The Midland Alliance, which is I believe where we'd end up under new regulations? That's effectively League 7 (regional). That is not a level of football I am willing to pay to watch at this moment in time..cos it's crap.

I'd agree 100% with that, but there's one line that sends it sending towards a 5% Approval Rating: "Will SISU pull the plug on him (Fisher)? I doubt that very much!"

Paxo, give me what you're on: I wish I had such faith. I think he's being reasonably straight: the problem is, will he be sold down the river by SISU? I'd say that until we hear more from them, that's most likely to happen: they have a track record, after all.

A couple of million in L1 and I will be in Sky Blue heaven! But at the very least, it's worth letting the dust settle and SISU's intentions become maybe just a little clearer than mud (as at present) until we start talking about reforming the club at just above Pub level.

A big call of reality to people, from a man who hates SISU with a passion: Fisher is not SISU. He may turn out to be another Len, Ken and Barbie..sorry, Clouting...but we don't know that at this stage. We don't really have much choice other than to wait and see what happens next. They don't get my money until match-days now, though, if that: sod getting a S.T. with this lot at the helm!

If we're punching above our weight, we've been doing it for 40-odd years! If there's one thing stopping us from doing it now it's the stadium/matchday revenue situation. Believe it or not, that is potentially resolvable. And in less than the 10+ years it would take to get back to L1 (and there are no guarantees-AFC Wimbledon didn't get where they are by being a big club: they did it through a huge level of work by the community, having the best non-league left back since Stuart Pearce playing for them whistle and the appointment of one of the best non-league managers around in Terry Brown. U reckon we'd manage to hire a decent gaffer? Our track record aint the best on that-1 in 10 are good if you are being generous!

But if you are correct, and we are incapable of supporting a Championship club, then we need to take our punches like a man and get relegated to a level where we can be competitive. Not act like a spoilt brat, and say "Well we're rubbish, that's it, I'm taking my (crap) ball and I'm going to play with some smaller, weaker boys who I can win against, yay!!!!"

I don't care where we end up (well I do but I hope you get what I mean). I'll still support City or whatever we're called in whatever league we bottom out in. It may be that a new club has to be formed with a slightly different name and strip. But there'll still be a team from Coventry and with the support of the City and surrounding County it would be far too powerful for any lower league so year after year we would rise. How many other teams from a City this size are knocking about in non-league football?

Let's hope it doesn't come to that but if it does I'll still be there as will a few thousand others.

We have a legally binding contract so would still have to pay rent for the Ricoh. In the same way the council can't kick us out unless we don't pay.

Unfortunately, that's the club's bed and it has to lie in it. I agree that it sucks, bit that's tough titties. You can try and "come to an arrangement" with the people we pay money to, but I'd suggest that the present SISU route of simply not paying it isn't really the ethical, proper way to go about that, and it's unlikely to work!

On that, lets put it this way: I want a deal. Do I approach the salesman and butter him up, try and get some dialogue going? Maybe show a bit of leg if I'm a lady, or suspect he's gay? Or do I punch his lights out and just take what I want?!
