You can see what the Midlands pep is trying to do!!

He’s signed a keeper who is at ease receiving and passing the ball. Ball playing centre backs and busy and energetic full backs and now ball playing midfielders who are looking to work the ball forward.

I don’t remember seeing quite such an intentional plan before! Suppose it comes with consistency in managerial position.
Agree pete

I tjibk he would prefer another striker like godden now. Thibk perhaps his need foe target men is waining with baka performances possibly

Villa fan at work says o’Hare is very effective on the wing. I’m sure we can fit them all in at some stage

You mean you didn't like the Coleman/Mowbray/Slade etc plan of signing old has-beens on loan just because they used to be good or they worked with them a few years ago?!

Curious as to how we afforded this one, can't imagine it was a cheapy deal. Even allowing for Junior Brown going out on loan, i would imagine we are still paying the bulk of his wages and i'm certain MR stated more than once that the budget was spent unless more first teamers left. Not complaining though, looks a decent signing on paper.

I dunno, if Bristol know he isn't in their immediate plans but is highly rated I'd imagine they would rather he played 1st team in league 1 especially considering there is a call back. Could have been a mutually beneficial and reasonable deal I recon

Agree - wouldn't surprise me if Brown was/is one of our higher earners though

Bristol won't be asking us to pick up much of Walsh's wages at all. Will be happy for him to develop at a club known for trying to play football (rather than hoofball). As others have said, it's a win/win.

Yes Mowbray signed some old players past their best, but also signed Armstrong, Murphy and Kent. He also played the likes of Maddison.

Hope he starts at the weekend. Don't agree with the philosophy of never changing a winning team. Alex Ferguson did it most weeks.

This lad and Jodi Jones go back a long way
They played on opposite sides in an English Schools cup final when they were about 15 and have run into each other several times in their careers since then
Wouldn't surprise me if that was a factor in Walsh being happy to come here

Don't want anyone running into Jodi Jones for a while please. Keep them well apart!

A slight difference in the strength of squad available though, dont you think?
Yes we're not Man Utd in their prime, obviously..... but the principal is exactly the same even if it was a Sunday league team. In case my point was not clear. You don't have to wait for an adverse result to change the starting 11.

I know what you meant, it's just that we saw our second 11 in action against Walsall, and to say they were dire would be an understatement.
Apart from the loan players I dont think any of the others could come into the first team without massively reducing the strength.

Either way hope whatever team start we play a good game
