So after a thread about adverts being banned and people being easily offended, I thought why not start another thread to offend more people
Personally, I think the woman is an arrogant c**t and I cant stand the sight of her. But, seen her in the news today that she's fighting for equal pay for the men's and women's USA Soccer teams. Now, in America, the women's team (game) is a bigger brand and they are certainly more successful than the men's team. So it begs the question, why are they paid less? Over here (europe) I dont think womens football could/should or would be able to demand as much wages as their male counterparts but, America is completely different in football. But if they start the rise in America, would women here demand the same? Or, would they just move to America chasing the money thus damaging our womens game that's growing very fast in popularity here?

In the US it is a talking point, because as you say it's a big thing and they're more successful. For me the big thing is if it creates more income for their FA. If they do, not only should they be paid the same they should be paid more. It's not about the raw figures, but the percentage of income each receives.

Here it's not even close at the moment and there's no way the women should be paid the same. They probably should be paid more, but more in line with lower leagues.

But if it's about international payments isn't it largely about covering club wages and then offering bonuses for winning tournaments etc, but if the mens tournaments create a lot more money in sponsorship and advertising they're going to get better pay.

It may well lead to our players wanting to move to America but as the US already has most of the top players in the world and can't be massively improved by copious amounts of foreigners, plus the almost xenophobic patriotism towards their own I don't think they'll just be able to join willy nilly.

But I also find Rapinoe quite annoying.

It's one of those situations where if it was a man fighting for equal pay, he'd be called brave and assertive but when a woman does it, she's labelled a bitch.
But to mention another point, there are many foreign players in the USA, both professional and lower level.
They don't just come for the money but also for the excellent facilities, good coaches and the sunny weather.
My local college in Phoenix, AZ has players from England, Japan, Netherlands, Germany, Brazil and Mexico.

Why are you bothered about it? What is it that frightens you about the concept?

I wasn't aware of her before the Women's World Cup but I think she's ace. It's not arrogance when you're actually that good

I'd still give her one! (I'd give her two if she begged me!) ;)

How would you feel if you were on a team that just won the World Cup (US Women) and you were paid less than a team that did not even qualify for the World Cup (USA Men)?

Isn't it a bit misleading though as they are actually talking about the salary cap in the NSWL compared to the MLS. In the NSWL its $16,538 to $46,200, in the MLS its a minimum of $56,250 without an upper limit per player (team limit is $4m but there are some players who don't count towards the cap).

However here is the important part. MLS is self sufficient, NSWL has to be subsidised by US Soccer. Also its a relatively new league, at the same point in the MLSs development the player salaries were similar.

So the question is if they're to have equal pay who is paying?

Surely any pay is relative to the popularity of the sport in question and the money it brings in. Hence premier league paid more than league 2. Or in this country at least men paid more than women

But it's not the same World Cup. That's like arguing the winner of Queens getting the same as the winner of Wimbledon in regards to broadcasting and sponsorship rights. They're both the same sport and both on TV.

But given the mens team didn't qualify they should get nothing in relation to that cup whereas the women should be well rewarded for winning theirs.

Read the article that I posted a link to. It's not that simple.

Who, never heard of her just had to google her to find out. The women’s game doesn’t bring in as much money as the men’s game so they get less pay the pie is only so big.

You can make an argument that in the USA , they do bring in more money than the men.
After all the women's team won the World Cup and the men's team did not even qualify.
But it's not clear cut because some of the income is bundled together for both men and women.

I would have thought mls crowds will be way higher then the female version and at real prices not super cheap to sell

It’s simple really - The US women should keep all the women they make and separate it from the men.

You earn as much as you bring in. In the US the women should be paid more.

I find the same with tennis - The ATP and WTA should be separate. Pay goes from which each tour makes. The women shouldn’t be piggy backing off the men’s game

Why would the women be paid more in the US?

Edit: Do you mean more than they are now or more than the men?

But in football no one gets "equal pay" there is no such thing as "equal pay"
Each player gets paid differently to other players each contract has its own level of pay that the player negotiates so "Equal Pay is non existent in football.

Surely it’s supply and demand if the American lady players aren’t happy with the money then go and try and get more abroad which is what the male players do.

Sorry, to US Football I read somewhere that they bring more money in than the men’s team.

If that’s the case - they should be paid more. I’m all for proportionality
Maybe the women’s national team has made more than the men’s over the last couple years because the women were in their WC and the men weren’t, but the men’s players still make more money from their clubs.

So the men must make more money for the clubs.

I think that’s their argument - the USMNT makes more money as a wage from international appearances than the women do but the women bring in more
