You’d like to think we’re more attractive than Lincoln city, imagine sunderland up against them for a player or pompey

Sunderland are a bigger fish than us. Pompey? You’ll have to get back to me on that one. How we’ll do this season I dunno. But Lincoln are in my top 6.

I wonder though if we miss out on walker and bright, who else robins has lined up?

Can I ask what was the catalyst for Lincoln’s rise up the leagues? Is it purely the Conley brothers’ influence or have they had significant financial backing I’ve missed?
Just the Cowley brothers as well as a windfall from a great cup run. They've just been invigorated, really enjoyed the game at Lincoln the other year, great to see a full ground with an atmosphere

Would say he’s the key to a better waa-aaaay?

Yep, that’s the entirety of the situation, no more nuance to be found.

Plenty of nuance but that sums it up. What ever the rights and wrongs are there is no way a local authority should be selling it's prized sporting asset to a London franchise without significant reason. They knew the damage it would do to CCFC and did it anyway. Your light mocking of the posters analysis shows which side of the argument you are on. Hope your Wasps season ticket arrives on time

This thread is going to look embarassing if we dont sign Walker.

How did this even start, did someone just pick a random player that scored 20+ goals in League 2 and, BAM, he's going to join Cov?

Sorry did I say ccfc transfer dealings? CVD, quoted someone talking about the workings of transfers. If anyone needed a basic understanding of transfer dealings then sky sports would be a good place to start.

I was in complete agreement with you until you said Sky Sports... the company that can literally publish stories to change betting patterns, oh yeah, a market that they are also in.

To be honest it’s no worse than the Telegraph - Robins complements a striker as the benchmark in the league and BAM he’s Robins top target.

We have heard from inside sources he is a target; MR has stated he has targets in mind; MR has not denied interest in him, but has on other players. I’m confident we’re interested.

However, none of us actually know what’s going on with the transfer, be that from our end, Lincoln’s end, Forests end etc. So let’s calm down and see how it plays out.

MR has also stated we are going for it this year, so I’m sure he’s fully aware of who/what he needs in order to do that - it’s literally his job. His business thus far has been impressive, so there’s no reason to think the final two pieces of the jigsaw won’t be as well. Be that Bright and Walker or another two players.

Have faith; MR appears to be being backed financially and our scouting system is the best it’s been.

It’ll come together, and in the meantime we have enough in attack to start the season confidently.

What I don't get with us is we always sell our strikers straight away without a replacement signed and sealed. Yet others who we try and buy from won't sell until they have replacements in the door. We really need to change our approach to signing strikers.

It is easy to forget the business we have done already, this is comparing our squads from the first game of last season and probably and hopefully this season.

BURGE---------MAROSI
STERLING----DABO
WILLIS---------McFADZEAN
HYAM----------HYAM
MASON-------MASON
DOYLE---------KELLY
OGOGO-------ALLEN
BAYLISS------BAYLISS
ANDREU------JOBELLO
HIWULA-------HIWULA
BIAMOU-------BAKAYOKO

Subs:
Grimmer--------Rose
Brown------------McCallum
JCH---------------Biamou
Ponticelli-------Kastaneer
Shipley----------Shipley
Thompson----Pask
Addai-------------Wilson

We added thomas after 2 games last year and assume we will have atleast 1 if not 2 new players in by then.

I agree. As i said basic sky sports for a basic understanding of footballing matters! For a starting block it's probably the most well known! I could offer many better sites for footballing knowledge!

But there has also been instances in the past where we have waited until we've signed a replacement only to then have the outgoing players transfer not go through because the team have switched to other targets. We've then been left with a disgruntled player using up part of the playing budget.

Personally, I'd prefer to have the extra player than be one down but with the budget sometimes it isn't possible. Maybe MR needed the money to get the deal through the door (or so he thought) so couldn't afford to potentially miss out on it if Barnsley changed their minds or looked elsewhere.

My fear is it'll end up like last year - we'll hang on and hang on for this one target for them then to disappoint.

Well somebody has to start the chain for that to happen? Otherwise nobody would ever sell somebody? Plus clubs higher up the footballing ladder can move onto other targets if we mess about, whereas our budget is limited and so the pool of players we can target is also limited.

one big factor most have overseen is the non move of wilson. we were banking on the wilson windfall of say 4 mill. since wilson signed a contract we haven’t signed any other players. we needed the Chaplin money but that money won’t be reinvested
