PPI Claim........... (5 Viewers)

Anyone else had a claim or thought about it? I left it until a couple of months ago simply because I thought it had been far too long since I had any loans etc. "Sod it," I thought, "what harm can it do?" Apparently, the mortgage I took out years ago and paid off about 10 years ago with the Halifax had a PPI against it. I've just had a payment of £3,178. And I did it myself without the help of robbing bastards like the ads on telly, e.g. Gladstone-bloody-Brookes. Scumbags! They take a cut of 24% of what you are entitled to, which for me would have been about £762. For doing NOTHING! Thank Christ I did it myself!
If you think you're owed, go for it! Just don't use those scumbags! Apply direct to whoever you think you might be owed from!

Yes...I did the same...it seems they have only looked at credit cards though...& I had to chase them twice for a response - which was basically 'nah'

Mine wasn't a credit card though. It was a mortgage. Maybe it's just loans and mortgages they are paying out on? Let's face it, a credit card isn't quite the same as a mortgage or loan. They wouldn't have tried to persuade you to take out protection insurance on credit cards? Just saying, like.

I have done a couple of claims myself against Natwest and received a couple of grand in total. I also had car finance with RFS for my old Renault, however I can't find any paperwork, I wrote to them but they claimed that I didn't have PPI.

I also made a claim against Natwest for a packaged bank account and received about £800 back.

Me and the mrs had a few loans since when we were younger. Thought we'd give it a bash. Mrs got £2k. I got £6k back, well worth looking into mate.

Well I asked for a check on everything...had mortgage, bank accounts & credit cards with the same bank for donkey's years...I am destined to call them again I suspect

I thought PPI was rubbish ? I get constant calls asking me about it, but I hang up or say not interested. To be honest I dont really know what's it's about. I've just got the State pension, but will carry on doing my round till I think that's enough. Which after this hot spell will be next week ! But we all like a windfall don't we ?

When it was at its height my Old Man got a call from his bank who just offered him 11k straight up. He thought it was a con at first but had it all verified and accepted.

Guessing he was owed a good bit more but his thought process was it’s 11k more than I had last month!

And fair play to him he then blew 9k on an extended trip around Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam!

It’s a real thing, it’s just the vultures that are trying to do the ‘work’ on your behalf for a cut that are the rubbish part. Think about every loan/mortgage/credit card/finance agreement you’ve had pre-2007 and there is probably a >50% chance one of them had a PPI policy attached. Get in touch with the banks/financial institutions that you would have had these products from and query whether you had PPI. Most have entire departments dedicated to the subject.

Do it sharpish though the right to claim ends 29th August this year. I can see the banks trying to use delay tactics if you claim now till after that date to say your to late. Although any claims made before the end date have to be dealt with don’t get fobbed off

I got a mortgage 10 years ago and have been paying Aviva for protection / insurance. Does that count?

I've never had PPI but 5 years or so back HSBC sent me a letter unprompted apologising for mis selling me a loan. They had forgotten to mention I could pay the whole lot off for no penalty at any time. They sent me a cheque for just over £1000 as compensation which was pretty much the interest charged on the loan amount.

Sounds to me like you have a PPI complaint. I'd contact them Nick. Just 'Google' something like "Aviva PPI Complaints" and take it from there. Hope you get a few grand back!

Off thread a bit. What's it like around the Malverns ? Ive been up them hills some years back when it was hot, not ideal for walking / hiking.
At my age BBR, (66) with dodgy knees and even dodgier ticker, it's bloody hard work! Lovely area and great for photography, but with hindsight, we probably shouldn't have moved here. Might be looking for another move next year.
