Realistic ambitions for this season (4 Viewers)

Lots of players in and maybe 1 or 2 more also-possible some will have to go aswell. A few getting carried away and thinking we will be top 2!
With the turnover of players again and the distraction of St Andrews/politics etc, I think if we finish anywhere near where we did last season (8th) then that will be a successful campaign. So for me anything above that is a bonus.

Robins is very confident that we have a much better squad than last year but I’m not sure we’ve improved at all. I suppose it depends on how good the 2 foreign wingers turn out to be. Currently I think we’ll finish between 10th - 15th but that might change if we sign a striker and number 10.

It's hard to say really.

Last season I expected midtable but then it was frustration because silly mistakes meant we could have been in the playoffs.

I'll be happy with playoffs but again expect midtable or just above based on the signings, will be able to tell more after seeing the players play the first few games.

Not going to get all excited about top 2, the people who give it all that will be talking about boycotting after the first couple of losses anyway. Take that shite with a pinch of salt.

Agreed. Some seem to be assuming a better finish than last season (hopefully so) but there’s been a lot of turnover of personal.

top 2 if we get bright and another striker

Few ifs for me. If we sign Bright, if Marosi is reliable, if we either sign a new striker or one of the current crop steps up to 20+, then I think automatics are a possibility. Without those ingredients, I think similar to last season.

Im more convinced by our 2 CDM's this season in Kelly and Allen, think Allen will be a brilliant signing as i remember how much of a bastard he looked to play against last season

Let’s wait and see.

Biggest frustration will be robins setting up for a 1-0 rather than playing an attractive style of football to get us off our feet

We finished 8th last year... we have not lost any goals from players that scored plenty... nor can we because no one did!

We have lost a decent CB in Willis when we he played, but he has never been an ever present, and may lose Bayliss - but he did not 'tear up' L1 last year.

We have replaced a keeper responsible for losing us points which would have moved us in the top 6.

Therefore there is major scope for improving on this... not guaranteed, but there is grounds for being optimistic, especially if the last two targets are acquired.

I really agree with that, but I also want to Shippers get plenty of game time and I assume Bayliss will be sold. Last season he was in and out, mostly left side and looked more of a player in the middle. Having stepped up as a first season at that level and now being 21, this could be a breakthrough year for him and I'd hate to see that progress stifled as one having come through the ranks. MR has a responsibility to play his best side and I'm ecstatic we've got Allen too, but it's a difficult balance. I guess he'll have to bide his time as Kelly often picks up a few knocks and then make the most of his opportunity when he gets it.

Big 4 losses are Willis, Sterling, Thomas and Bright (I know latter 3 were on loan).
McFazdean should be a fairly (if different) decent replacement for Willis, hopefully Dabo can replace Sterling (plus it's positive he's not a loan - unless he turns into a dud!) The big 2 unknowns for me are the tall wingers we have acquired. Could be anything or nothing. Will be happy if one of the 2 is a big success. Looking forward to see if we acquire either of MR's other 2 main targets. If we get one of the 2, I would be happy with at least as good a season as last. If we can replace Thomas' energy in the team I would be hopeful of a top 6, but not a given by any means. We will see!

As has been said it's difficult to say what's realistic, especially with new signings in key positions like GK. If the signings work out well there's no reason at all we shouldn't be looking towards the play-offs minimum right now.

I think McFadzean will be an adequate replacement for Willis, and Allen in midfield with Kelly will be solid, so much of it is on Marosi and how well Jobello and Kastaneer do. If they do well we could well be one of the best attacking teams in the division (although there is still a question mark over our ability to stick the ball in the net)

Personally I don't think the move to St Andrews will have much effect at all. The pitch I expect will be a better playing surface as the season wears on and the crowd will be more supportive as it'll be more like the away following (hopefully less the minority of dickheads)

Have to aim for promotion. Until we see the team in action though and how they gel, it is very hard to say how it will all play out.

Definitely need to aim for promotion though and that should be our ambition.

Has to be top 6 for me. We've progressed every year with MR and only have to push up two places to get there. He's been backed and invested in his squad, should have a better keeper between the sticks.

I'm not the kind to exaggerate or get overexcited or anything, but I can see us lifting the FA Cup in May and this time next year I'll be planning our Europa League qualifying travel to Gibraltar.

Yes - there is also how Robins will set things up and if it's not going to plan will he be willing to change it, or will he swap left backs with five minutes left again. I hope he gives them the freedom to attack the opposition even when we're winning because we look a much better team doing that.

Promotion is what SISU and MR expect having put a decent amount of players together it's now upto MR to get them firing but for me we still need a goal scorer.

All ready to rock with the ratings from last year as base figures and new teams entering the division put on a 1500 provisional ratings etc.

There are too many new players that I've never seen play to form any opinion, but Robins seems to think we've got a better squad than last year. With that being the case, he's got to be aiming higher than 8th, ergo that's the measuring stick I'll work to.

Joy has thrown all her eggs into one basket this season, make or break i rekon

It does seem a bit like that. Unless she's hoping to do like the first season they took over when they brought in some decent players on long-isg contracts and when we didn't go up sold them for a profit which completely fucked us for years. That's the trouble with owners like that - always looking for the quick profit one way or another. Maybe she's learnt her lesson but a leopard rarely changes their spots.
