"We knew that the little club would be more enthused than normal by their trip to the big club. This happens regularly."

"an insipid visiting club who, let’s be honest, don’t arouse much interest in their own city, never mind anyone else’s (in fact they may soon be cancelled due to lack of interest)."

I think most average minded Sunderland supporters will be embarrassed at such amateur, childish reporting. Pathetic and factually wrong on all accounts.

I’d imagine the main man on that rag will be calling him in to ask him to stop making up rubbish as the guys embarrassing not only himself but the football club. We’re are the 9th biggest city in the country and could be said the second biggest club in this league. Get a grip man and face reality!

Did laugh at how stupid the guys made himself.

:finger: What a knob head.

It's comforting to know that Coventry City live rent free in the heads of everyone in Sunderland.

Jimmy sent you down.
We know how to win at Wembley.
5-4 to the mighty Sky Blues

Sunderland over the years have had numerous issues which in fact a documentary was made - some of this guy's comments about of fans and team are completely out of order, particularly Sunderland they play in the shadow of a BIG club namely Newcastle -
Both clubs are trying to form a closer relationship after what has gone on with the jimmy hill comments of old and the issues Saturday and this idiot just tries to stir things up again - Stuart Donaldson the Sunderland chairman was apparently distressed on Saturday - how about he gets on the phone to this idiot and bans him from the stadium

Wow, talk about a sore loser!

Basic fact is, high and mighty "big club" Sunderland haven't managed to beat little, insignificant Coventry City this season, and could have, in fact, should have, lost both games.

Maybe football journalism isn't for this guy.

This little club has had more seasons in the top flight over the last 50 years than you

Has also won a major trophy more recently than you too

Cheers for the 4 points this season :)

They just won't let go will they. It's a shame, numbers wise they are great supporters but they really seem to have a chip on their shoulder.

Drop them a line and complain. Wonder how long it would take for them to get pissed off at a stack load of calls/emails lol
Do no such thing!
It's embarrassing for them and we should laugh it off. Their press are bad losers just like their fans.
Imagine if he ever goes for a job at a national newspaper or broadcaster, that could come back to haunt him.

Must really cut deep that a homeless little club like us can rock up to the stadium de camp nou and outsing and outplay them .

I mean let’s face it when we were playing Man Utd Arsenal Liverpool etc back in the top flight I was always dreaming of going to roker park and then the stadium el bernabau .

It should be noted that he's not a considered and objective writer suddenly sent mad by Coventry City, being controversial in exchange for money is his schtick.

What WILL he say next? Stand back

One of the funniest pieces of sports ‘journalism’ I have read. I even think Trump may have a point re fake news or ‘Mackem News’ as it must now be called. I bet your average Sunderland fan is cringing (not all are as deluded as this guy) as they read that and Newcastle fans laughing their socks off.

This is exactly the point. Imagine that Sunderland had scored the 9th goal of the game to win it. There would have been a bit of crowing about JH from their knuckledraggers, then everybody would have moved on. After all, it was a third division game.

Instead, we have seen Sunderland for what they are - a team and fans who are full of resentment at their lot. Much of that is they seem to feel entitled to be playing at the top level but are overshadowed by a local rival. This delusion of how huge their club is can also be seen in the vicinity of Villa Park.

After reading the comments from the Sunderland Echo I wondered if the mackems were still obsessing over CCFC on their own forum - to which they are.

I'm sure they will be talking about the day Coventry beat them at the Stadium of Shite for a long time to come

100% this. Their crowds of course are great but in terms of post war success it's no different to us!

They haven't won a trophy since 1973. Even a small club like us won one 15 years more recently!

All this sour grapes just makes me think how fantastic it was that we went up there and beat them, backed by nearly 3000 raucous supporters. I really expected us to lose and then to have to listen to them gloating. They really aren’t good losers are they. Bunch of arrogant tossers.
