Interesting that the Trust think a long term deal at the Ricoh is in the council's hands though?

Come on nick, they said it's in all their hands haven't they? Isn't that what you think too?

How warm will the glow of satisfaction from the SBT be, after they've hounded SISU out? Pretty toasty I reckon.
Of course, there'll be no football club, so no supporters to represent, but that don't matter, right chaps?

Less competition for the Phoenix Club they can have control over that plays at the Ricoh though...

When sisu finally go because they've found someone mad enough to pay them enough money I guarantee the trust will claim it's because of their actions.

Of course they will. The same as they think the Blackpool fans fixed everything.

It's deluded.

Although I doubt SISU are serious - a new stadium should be the long term plan. We need full control of income and expenditure, The Ricoh set up is a mess.

I don't understand how the Trust can claim to speak for everyone.

I had a look on their website and it looks like its a £1 one off fee to join with no further payment required. There's actually no form attached so at the moment it looks like it's impossible to join? I seem to remember a fella walking around the casino years ago collecting quids off people to join the trust. I paid in but I've had absolutely no communication from anyone at the Trust about my membership in the intervening years. Now either the guy was on a monumental blag or the Trust is being run in a massively inefficient way.

If an organisation is to be able to claim that truly represent the voice of the fans they need to prove it. They need to have an auditable membership list. I'd suggest that there needs to be an annual financial consideration to prove that the membership is and remains truly engaged and there needs to be a far more open source of communication between any elected board of a fan group and its members.

My suggestion would be something like £25 p/a for membership with a cheaper rate for the usual concessions (OAP/NUS/JSA/Juniors). Each member has one vote. In 2019 it's easy enough to set up an electronic means for instantly disseminating information and collating meaningful votes on pertinent topics. That way, presuming they have the numbers in their membership, such a fan group could legitimately claim to be the voice of the supporters.

The funds raised can take care of the cost of running such an endeavour, be it membership of any associations, IT costs, membership costs. Any surplus can be used to support local causes, whether it be donating tickets to those unable to afford them, food banks or the Family Zone and other initiatives from Sky Blues in the Community.

I appreciate that it's hard to get such things off the ground, but if you could engage with the regional supporters clubs that could give you a good start. I know there are popular groups in Leamington/Warwick, London, Bedworth, Southam. I presume there is one in the actual city too plus others dotted about. These groups have a strong engaged membership and if their enthusiasm can be focused on creating a singular unified voice, there is a chance of having true indisputable fan representation that should be listened to by the Club, the Council and the EFL.

Of course it is, we keep being told the council can't do anything and have no say though ;)
True hilarity really isn't it. We need to invest in land to develop a new stadium, land which is owned by the council. The council openly say they want us at the Ricoh, rubbishing the idea of a new ground. Of course they won't sell us land to do so. Until the public eye turns to criticise the council. Then they'll backtrack again, and sell us land. But then magically discover a rare breed of earthworm actually lives in the soil on that land and so it's not feasibly possible to grant us planning permission. Endless cycle of being shafted by the council really

So after getting there in the end there are random bits at the end about the council so it is getting there.

There is still no need for the random digs and opinions, it shows in the differences of tone. They just need to either go at them all or keep it to the point. What's the point in the bit about them thinking we don't need a new stadium and that we should be at the Ricoh under Wasps?

After all of the "urging", will it be followed up with anything or is that it? This is why the Trust need to communicate with the members / fans. It's pointless whinging that SISU don't listen and engage with the fans while they don't bother either.

As i've said i highly doubt that a new stadium will be built, it could just be SISU trying to buy time waiting for their appeal, but anyone that is actively against a new stadium, you have to question motives... i for one would happily move into a new place.
nail on head

no one beleives them/ but the idea is sound. and besides main priority is new rent deal so jsut say ok to new stadium

Stop the press, there is more added now about Wasps / Council!!

Why are they now urging the council to help find land if they don't think it's feasible? It contradicts the one put out half hour before!

Note the different tones in them!
Much better. Shame we didn't get that to start off with. Shouldn't need a huge backlash on social media to kick them in to gear.

am i missing something because the full statement on the Trust Website is this

Following various statements this week it is now clear that nothing is going to change unless ALL parties involved in this saga are prepared to start acting in the best interest of Coventry City Football Club.
We therefore feel strongly that it is time to stop the "blame game" and get on with the business of saving OUR club.
We welcome SISU's willingness to withdraw their legal action although their conditions are far from straightforward.
We don’t believe that a new stadium is either needed or feasible. After six years of rhetoric about such a stadium we remain sceptical and believe that all parties should focus on a return to the Ricoh with CCFC working in partnership with Wasps.
However if that's their intention we would urge SISU to keep their word and to work with the Council and Wasps to bring this to fruition.
We therefore urge SISU to show they mean business by starting the process of withdrawing the legals.
Similarly we urge Wasps to show they mean business by sitting round the table to discuss a short term deal whilst the new proposed stadium is being constructed.
After all what do they have to lose by agreeing a deal in principle conditional upon the legals being dropped.
We also urge Coventry City Council to work with SISU in finding them suitable land, if available, in line with the local plan within Coventry and to assist with the planning process.
We now call for all those involved to cease the stubborn refusal to cooperate and urge all parties to set aside their historic antipathies and work together on a long term solution for the club and its long suffering supporters.
Be that a new stadium or long term deal at the Ricoh the future of this great club is in all of your hands - don't let us down. Work for one common goal in good faith, history will judge you

seems reasonable and demands things from each of the parties. Its a lot of the stuff asked for on this forum isnt it? They are allowed an opinion on the need/feasibility for a new stadium

Yep, that's how it is now. Earlier on it started off with the top bit and then things got added. You can see by the structure how it was.

What's the point in "their" opinion on the feasibility of the stadium? Who's opinion is that? Are they representing members when they speak on behalf of Coventry City fans or just a couple of people? Why add in random bits of "their opinion" rather than keep it to the point?

Its an opinion Nick ...... i dont care

But i would not have included it personally

That's what I mean, who's opinion? Why keep putting them into statements when speaking on behalf of members?

Keep it to the point without the need for things like that, put that statement out in full originally and it isn't as bad.

I didn't see the statement until I read it on here, and then saw the amendments made in OSB's post. But, if that's the case there isn't really any excuse why it didn't say what it says now right from the off. Should have been pure common sense, shouldn't it?

Is it less feasible than buying 50% of the Ricoh? Who knows, hence I wouldn't rule it out or say that a new stadium isn't needed.

If I suddenly became a billionaire, a new stadium for CCFC would be the first thing needed.

I really can't believe they are serious about it, not unless they can get a deal that involves them owning a very valuable asset for virtually no outlay. My main concern about building a new stadium would be whether a city this size could provide a second arena with enough revenue to help the club be self-sufficient. I wonder what else would go on the site to make it viable, Coventry Blaze could maybe do with a larger home but otherwise we're presumably looking at retail and hotels if it's suitably located?

Well, let's put the billionaire thing aside for a moment, i'm sure you're well on the way with all the ads on this site..... ;)

I think we would all agree that a new stadium is a pipe dream, so it's "feasibility" has to come into question doesn't it? Agree there was no need for it to be in the trust statement though.

Yes of course it needs to be questioned. It hasn't been though, it has just been straight up ruled out as not feasible and not needed.

Take SISU away for a second, any new owner needs to look at it seriously.

As you’ve said, could the city assist a new stadium? Possibly not - but that’s why the council don’t want us leaving the RICOH - 140 year old football team, or franchise from London. The city is more likely to be behind the football team than the rugby team.

The council are afraid of the Wasps project failing

Exactly, people need to take SISU out of it and look at it for the football club.

If SISU go tomorrow, it's still the situation at being at others mercy

The council want us at the Ricoh and Wasps want us their on their terms. This is why the sale to Wasps was a disasterous move by the council.

Despite my thoughts on Wasps, I don’t really blame them. I envy them. But they’re not in the City’s culture yet and therefore easier to pressure

I can see why the council are fearful of the Wasps/Ricoh project failing, the Ricoh is a key part of the city now. Personally, and i'm basing this on 0 research, I am skeptical about a new stadium/arena being viable. However I am not in a position to realistically make that prediction and ideally those that are will actually give it the consideration it needs.

Of course, Wasps won't want another stadium to ever happen as they lose CCFC for good and maybe some events. The council won't want that as they have gone all in with Wasps.

That's why I am pretty sure SISU are using that as a negotiation tactic along with the legals now. They aren't going to drop them before going into a meeting, however once in the meeting they will probably be used as "oh well I am sure we can stay at the Ricoh if we get x and y" type thing.

Possibly because we all know SISU has zero intention of ever building one?
