Wigan have bought their training ground and facilities too!

When you delve a little deeper into the Bolton mess- being a Cov fan doesn’t seem the shit tip we make it out to be!

Why arent teams dragging their players back after the first month of them not paying wages?

I’d imagine they can’t register them so there’s little to no point of recall. That’s probably an oversight in the ruling, can see it being amended to being able to re-register players if clubs are in breach of contract like this indicates.

The Times report today that Bolton owner Anderson bought the club for £1 in 2015
He paid himself £525k in consultancy fees last year
But in 2005 he was banned from being a company director for 8 years for offences relating to 8 companies
Transgressions included diverting company funds for personal use, VAT discrepancies and failing to cooperate with receivers
It's not just us is it?

Surely that is where the fit and proper stuff should come in? I know it doesn't do too much but that's exactly the sort of stuff it should be finding out.

There are some that will morally be wrong but play to the line of the law which seem to just get past the fit and proper test, people who have been banned from being directors should show red flags straight away.

When a club is on deaths door I do wonder whether the 'fit and proper' test is carried out as strictly... I'm assuming not given the lack of time available for it to be conducted.

Surely with things like that it's public knowledge to find stuff like that out? Same as credit checks etc.

This seems to think he passed because his ban from being a director was up... Surely that's like saying a convicted money launderer could run a club because they have done their time in jail?

I mean if you look at the ex-Leeds Chairman Massimo Cellino as another example; it was discovered later on during his reign that he was suspected of tax evasion and had links with the Mafia. He was still in charge behind the scenes after this, he just wasn't chairman because the FL asked him to resign.

The fit and proper test is pretty useless really. It just stops conmen such as those who took over Notts County from owning football clubs. It still paves the way for absolute charlatans to run clubs unfortunately

There's not much point in it really if it still allows them to carry on.

It's hard to say on a moral basis if people are fit and proper as a lot of it is opinion but when there's convictions involved it's there in black and white.

That's the problem, believing someone shouldn't own a football club from a moral standpoint is subjective and will never hold up. Another example is the Nottingham Forest owner. Previously was charged with match fixing offences whilst chairman/owner of Olympiakos but was still allowed to take over the Forest. I suppose our judicial system is 'innocent until proven guilty' but come on 90% of the time there's no smoke without fire. He's now being tried for bribery charges.

The FL is useless.

When it's there in black and white it's not the same as subjective. Not sure why they would allowed somebody who has dabbled in match fixing (a sport related crime as well).

Well no but I more was getting at the FL can't deny someone taking over a club due to a moral basis. E.g. The Osytons for instance who clearly use it as a cash cow.

But yeah like you said the Forest Chairman was under trial whilst he was taking over Forest. You have to worry about the effectiveness of the 'fit and proper test' when plain and simple it allows criminals to run football clubs. It's clear to me that realistically their standpoint is: if your bank account checks out then you're good to go.

I imagine the test is they call the person in and say are you fit “yes” are you proper “yes” ok you’ll do for us

If it is mid trial, then you would think they should delay it until the outcome.

You'd think so wouldn't you. Especially as like you said it was a football related offence - and one that is up there with one of the worst.

I'd call that a good return on his investment.
Now, I have a pound burning a hole in my pocket. I don't want to waste it on a Snicker - has anyone got any good investment ideas?

Ok m8.
A good investment for him, indeed, putting a lot of people at risk of losing job's = selfish c**t (given his track record).

A good investment idea? Hmmmmm, buy a failing organization...something like a football club and pay yourself instead of who you owe money too. :pompus:

Selfish people like that don't ever spend it on good stuff anyway.

Sounds a little bit like some people who owned a local major uk car brand, but paid themselves good money and masses into their pension funds

Yeah but the people like him at Bolton wouldn't be like that. I bet the club staff aren't getting drugs and prostitutes or midget throwing.

I only mentioned a few of the things the evil bugger has been up to
The previous owner was a proper Bolton fan and paid up all the debt - i think about £175 million
And then after Anderson had taken over and was having cash flow problems the previous owner, who was seriously ill advanced him around £5m to keep the club going
He died 4 days later
This Anderson guy is down there at sewer level with the Oystons

That is brilliant. He is a total loon.

But yes he is right in the fact that Doidge cannot be signed by us or anyone else. You cannot play for more than two teams in a season. He has played for FGR and Bolton already.

We should get him to sign up on here and get in the Brexit Thread.

It's a shame Bolton won't be playing FGR, they could have just had a scrap about it.

He’d be the type who would go into a thread he has no interest in just to say he has no interest in the topic and it’s a load of bollocks.

..............before explaining exactly what bits he wasn't interested in and why, followed by detailing why bollocks was so important in the context

feel sorry for the Bolton fans have someone like that in charge, but the two chairmen probably deserve each other
