Genius IMO - compelling yet absurd.

I read somewhere he does it on his phone on the bus. I have no idea how he chops them out on his phone, I struggle with a mouse.

Some of the people on them make you wonder what made him think of them.

His exhibition in London looked like a laugh.

The bottom one is called the Forth Estate, and like you said it's on display in Liverpool.
