New rules to limit overseas players to 12 per squad
Not a bad thing. Should encourage more opportunities for young English players?

Great news. About time.

Great in principle but it means we'll be able to hold on to academy products for all of about 5 minutes. Chelsea will have thousands of young English players and demand they have B, C, D & E teams in the pyramid. Any limit on foreign players needs to come with a limit on squad sizes.

Always wondered - does the rest of Britain count as foreign for this?
i know Welsh players currently counted same as English as they don't have their own separate professional league and there are professional Welsh clubs in the English leagues.

Long overdue and I really can't believe it's taken brexit to force this move.

Seem to remember one of the Liverpool sides in the 80s being nearly all non-English players. Lot of Scots, Irish Welsh and Grobbelaar & maybe Johnston (Aussie)

The big guns will find a way round it if it suits them to do so, if they want to play a team full of Amazonian pygmies they'll do it and they won't give a single fuck what the PL, FA or anyone else says.

Wrexham, Swansea, Cardiff and Newport should be the only exceptions obviously.
