JSB birthday question (1 Viewer)

My lad is having his 10 birthday party at the Ricoh (by which I mean he wants to take a few friends with him, so me and four lads - what could possibly go wrong? ) to the Barnsley game.

Our season tickets are at the end of a row with no spare seats next to them, so for peace of mind I would like to move our seats for one game and get three extra tickets all together.

Who would be the best person to contact at the club? Also, as this is a new thing for me (and him) it’d be nice to get something else done - like getting his name mentioned on the tannoy etc. Anyone got any other suggestions for what I could do?

Was going to take them to the family zone before the game (and nip off to down ten pints of UBU).

As my lad was born and bred in Birmingham (I blame the missus) it gives me a lot of pleasure that he is a Sky Blue through and through (love that he wears his kit to footy practice etc) and loves all things Coventry (never lived there you see - just kidding I’m a Cov lad myself) and none of his mates have any interest in City at all (2 Liverpool fans and 1 Arsenal), so it’d be good if I could make it a memorable day out for them all - and who knows maybe give them a soft-spot for the mighty Sky Blues!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions anyone may have.

go to the ticket office, they will sort for you in terms of the seats I moved mine last year for a game
At the same time they would be able to give you a name

So I should just contact the ticket office? Was hoping to avoid physically going in as walking is an issue for me, I should just email the ticket office? Can they arrange a birthday shout out you think?

Walkings an issue for me too after 10 pints of Ubu.

But hopefully this should help for your lads birthday shout out.
Birthdays and Celebrations - Coventry City

Just the ticket, cheers. Maybe I should learn to actually search the CCFC website! Who knew they were that organised!?

And unfortunately walking is an issue regardless of the amount of beer I have consumed*

* just to clarify I won’t actually be downing 10 pints whilst looking after 4 10 year olds and driving them all back to Birmingham (before social services / one of their parents / the police reads this

Name out on tannoy - email the club. They were great when it was my son (and then my daughter's) first games - gave a shout out before and at half time.
I have a similar problem, trying to ensure kids are sky blue (they have always lived in Somerset), and the wife supports man u (though she has now been to more Coventry games)...so currently they support Coventry with man u as a 'second team.'
Hopefully, they will remain sky blue forever, friends down here are often Liverpool, man u and Chelsea.

I am on it tomorrow. Thanks for all the responses.

I have to say I have never pushed him into football or Cov, he just chose it himself. Started as a Barcelona ‘fan’ at the age of about 4, then had a soft spot for Arsenal (all his mates at school are) - something that I’m pretty sure his Mum was keen to encourage - and then he came to a few games with me and got hooked. Actually think he’s doomed to be a life-long city fan now.

My daughter (7) is not so fussed. Prefers gymnastics and dancing (nothing to do with me).

It helps that he’s been to Wembley twice (and for the checkatrade we got invited into a box with all the trimmings). But I try to keep his expectations in check by pointing out that the last time I went to Wembley to watch us was over 30 years ago!!

He is fully aware that villa are totally off limits and seems to have developed a healthy loathing of them already. Good lad.

I've had that conversation about expectations too - son has been to wembley twice and daughter once - I keep saying it's not usually like this (they think I am joking).... though, as a twelve year old, I didn't think it would take so long to be back at wembley!

For one of my son’s birthdays I was able to get his photo in the programme. They then put it on the screen at half time and announced it over the PA system. It used to be a regular feature for fans with birthdays, annerversaries etc.

I phoned up once to see if they could do birthday parties at the Ricoh in the bit where the mini football pitch was but they weren't allowed :( Shame really because if they could let the kids in about 12, give them a burger, play a couple of games, see sky blue sam and then go into the jsb bit when it opens it could be a money spinner.

For a then 4 year old birthday party they offered me the board room for something like £500 for a couple of hours and nuggets and chips at £10 per kid with no external food allowed.

Thanks all, have emailed them so will wait and see what they say. I did enquiry about any ‘extras’ they might do, will now wait and see how long it takes to get a response!

Yeah - wasn’t planning on spending quite that much!

Like you say though, an opportunity not being fully taken. Maybe there isn’t enough money / demand to justify the hassle for them?

Would be good if CCFC had birthday party packages, they could link up with a sports centre. Have a coach go for them to play football for an hour, Sky Blue Sam, training top for the birthday boy, food ordered in and brand it up as CCFC. Would think a fair few would have them for their kids.

It would be a cracking party for a footy loving Cov fan, might be a bit pricey though? Coach, kit, hall hire, tickets, food...

Nah would probably be not much different to laser quest or something if it was all done properly. :)

Give each kid a special sheet of vouchers like the JSBs get so they can pester their family to go, double it up as marketing at the kids who attend the parties.

Anyway, without going too off topic :)

I would like to take it off topic.I would love to know the feasibility of the old Rowley Club being bought and turned into a supporter club . We would be relying on match days for most of the revenue, but things like this could be done in style finishing at 10 to 3 and going over all together , plus weddings and forums(what happened to them).

It's a good idea but we need to know where the football club will be playing permanently .

Got to agree with this - parties (such as laser quest) cost a bit. We have soccerbox parties, so you get twenty kids, coach, football games and venue (school Astro), we provide food - everyone's happy!
Shouldn't be too difficult to sort.
