Where's best to watch games in the World Cup ? I mix it up and go to the pub for England games, but other matches like to watch on the telly. But then again it can depend on times of matches, and what days they're on. But can you beat a lively boozer, for atmosphere ?

England games in the pub definitely. That wales game 2 years ago was one of the best days of my life, whole pub was singing for about an hour afterwards

Too many games to go to the pub for all of them .........nice to squeeze in quite a few though in the company of draught beer and fellow footie fans !

I don't like watching the match in the pub, especially England with all the part time fans and women shouting shite at the telly. Rather watch it at home.

With the U.S not qualifying for Russia, the coverage and build up has been a bit of a damp squid to be honest.
I've really missed getting the buzz for the build up to this.
I've been trying to rally the troops to go watch the England game in an Irish bar on Monday and they are even doing raffles for world cup balls, drink specials and giving away free tickets to Tampa\Orlando games and i STILL can't get people to commit to watching! :emoji_laughing:
It doesn't help that its on at 2pm though.

At home for me with 15yr old son for most games. In pub I always seem to sit near the bore who spills his beer everywhere (over me) after there’s a controversial decision Also one of our daughters coming home tonight. She has already put in a request for a cold Estrella and snacks for the Spain/Portugal game tonight.

Home, the only time I could watch football in a pub is as a background distraction I'd occasionally glance at.

I'll go the pub for a few games once the group stages are over .....probably avoid the england games in the pub these days as I get grumpy with all the part-time drinkers & their lack of bar etiquette......

...also can't get on with the apparent effect that painting your face & decking yourself out in a tatty nylon replica kit seems to have on folks that makes them believe they suddenly know more about the game than Brian Clough.....

I've been down Holbrooks today. I looked in the Hollybush an hour ago, 2 blokes sat watching a game on the TV. Bit early I guess but hopefully pubs will be more lively soon !

I hope you don't mind BBR as this is taking it off topic but is football WC and Television connected.
Watched some of a documentary om Scotlands travails of 1978 in Argentina.
What a disaster it ended up being for them.
Have never understood how Ally McLeod could have left Tommy Hutchison behind.
Preferring Willie Jonstone who got sent home for taking a stimulant available in chemists, then John Robertson who was very ineffective replacing him .
Looking on it seemed like a jinxed tour of duty.

I never watched it but it looked a good documentary. I've always been surprised seeing how many good players Scotland have had over the years, how poor their national teams have been. Dalglish, Law, Baxter, Holton, Jordan, Tommy Hutchison, all top league players, but in very average national sides. Add in fanatical support and they should have done better.

I saw the showcase are showing the matches free, could be a decent experience watching a game on the big screen? They serve Beers so not missing out on that front.
