Standard of Refereeing (1 Viewer)

I appreciate we are at the lowest level of English football, but the standard of referees this season has been shocking. It is a new experience to majority of us , but my god it has surprised me just how bad it is and has been. Surely the EFL would pick the very best to officiate the play offs? If they gave them it is a worry. Last Saturday ours was bad, last night was worse imo. The push on rhead could have been given, resulting in a pen not a disallowed goal, but give that 50/50. However lincoln should have had penalty for the head but, and Exeter should have had penalty for the handball. So many things missed and bad tackles left in punished. So hope we start to climb the leagues, to a better level starting tonight of course.

Yes I completely agree...it's very depressing the standard of officials. So much so that even when we've won a badly refereed game, I head home feeling depressed. Decisions really can determine the future of a football club. Something really does need to be done! But it's rife throughout the FL in my opinion.

To be fair, I think the standard of refereeing across the board has dropped. There's always contentious decisions every week in the EPL so it's no different. It's been a constant decline as well....in my opinion anyway.

Gone are the good old days of Neil Midgely...

Had a look the other day and there's well under 100 refs for the PL and FL. Surely with all the money in the professional game they should all be up to standard.

Mistakes happen but the volume of obvious errors is a big issue. With promotion and relegation having a financial implication how often does it come down to an incorrect decision?

Over 46 games, refereeing decisions shouldn't have much of an impact as to where you finish. One off games, though, they can affect!

Yep its pretty poor when you are following the game on this site in the game thread, because cannot find any other way of following it free; and 50% of the comments of the game are negative or about the ref and lino. Would be nice to just have game commentary for the 250 or so people logged on to the game thread commentary.

Problem is with all the hype about the peanalty decision in the first leg, and pundits screaming it was the worst decision ever.
The refs will have read all about it and the fact they are so poor, it will influence the way they approach tonight’s game.
We have kept our heads down and taken all the shit, making us look guilty and apologetic. I fear we will get nothing from the ref tonight.

I really wouldn't be surprised to see the ref trying to "even it up" as much as possible. Will no doubt be intimidated by Nolan who seems to get away with saying and doing whatever he wants week in, week out.

The media all have their favourites, imagine if Nolan signed Akinfenwa. The sky sports studio would need tissues for the pundits.

Yes we have not got a cat in hells chance of getting a penalty tonight.

Maybe the FA could take some of that fresh, crisp money they're going to get from selling Wembley and use it on an area that could really use it.

Shocking math officials works both ways. A very bad refereeing decision has kept our season alive, because I couldn’t see us winning the tie had we lost on Saturday.
