BBC article on Wolves, their promotion and the club's structure:
Wolves: Super agent Jorge Mendes, Chinese owners and global ambition

It says in the transfers section that they paid £513,000 for Ben Stevenson.
Was this ever mentioned at the time or was it the usual "undisclosed fee"?

I wonder if there is any sell on clause there as with Madders and Wilson?

Does £513k not seem a bit low for a player of his potential?

Thoughts..

i agree if thats what we got presumably a sell on clause as well we did okay. On his performances this season which were average at best.

Good price on all honesty for a player who looked lost this year.
His performance levels had dropped, there was no place in the side since he lost the fight for his place and MR preferred to give Tom Bayliss a start dropping Stevenson in the process

The rest is history, he got a cold, mum or dad called I sick for him and off he went.

I know its early doors (ish) for Bayliss but i would say Robins kept the right one as it stands, and thats not a bad bit of business!

Joke of a fee I think he will go on to show why in the future

How much should we have got then?

In my opinion it’s a good fee as others have stated he wasn’t getting into our team. Yes he does have potential, maybe he will go onto be a great player in the future but at the point of the sale he was regularly on the bench for us and wasn’t a starter like Maddison and Wilson

I think ts a fair fee for a relatively untried player at the time. If it has to be used to fund the clubs monthly bills then so be it, at leasy we are paying them.
I wouldn't mind betting he won't play at Wolves for at least the next 3 seasons so we might get him back if the manager feels it right especially if we go up this season. A season in league one again will do the lad no harm

Didn't notice it said from TransferMarkt.com. I wonder how they compile all their data.
Ben Stevenson - Player Profile 17/18

Says €570k on that link. 'MV' looks to stand for Market Value. For a moment I thought Wolves had shonked Colchester out of 500k just for the loan deal.
Wolves official site says 'undisclosed' as ever.

.... or what if the money is still there or it’s in place to be used on the JCH deal.

We had to pay £175k loan fee upfront for JCH to get around FFP so would think a chunk of Bens move would have been used. This is the reason why Fat Boy Evans was going off on one in the TV interview he did after we shagged a point off him

I promise you there will have been sell on and other clauses for Ben and the other prospects we've sold in recent times
The buying clubs don't mind as young players are always a gamble and if they are lucky and the player develops as hoped they will get the bulk of the 2nd transfer fee
It reduces the risk of paying a bigger fee up front

This £175k fee for loaning JCH is an urban myth though isn't it?

Like Newcastle with Bigiaramana as an example?

Well yes
That illustrates the situation exactly
Newcastle are rumoured to have paid £1m up front but there will almost certainly have been add ons if Bigi had gone on to the top level
It was a risk for NUFC which didn't pay off
