Not lived in Coventry for a lot of years so not sure.
But growing up was brilliant. We had respect for adults....especially in street where I lived. Drugs but nothing too hard. Having school mates have the occasional holiday in Borstal.
That is why my kids are not city kids. I'd go mental if they got up to a tenth that I did

It was gang warfare at times depending on where you lived. You would be mates inside school but as soon as you left the school gates you would be a target. Dusters and baseball bats were favoured by some. If you got caught it was a hospital visit. They were the days before the road was built between the Aldermoor and Willenhall.

I actually got shot in Spon End, albeit with an air rifle, but it stung like hell!

When I was younger there were fights, broken noses, bruises etc but thankfully no guns or knifes. Sticks or bats would be the extremes then.

I don't know what the problem is. Corbyn will walk the next general election. I know that because I have been told so. And he has Abbott who will recruit 10,000 police officers and it will only cost £300,000 a year.

The Tiries are for the rich and those who are working class but consider themselves to be middle class once earning a decent wage.

I didn't mean that the Tories are for them.
It is the sheep mentality. Must show how well they are doing. Car needs to be new and look better than the neighbours. Holidays must be better than the neighbours and friends. Vote Labour? Oh no. Middle class don't do that. And plaster it all over Farcebook to show the world.
But in reality they are working class and are heavily in debt to keep the charade up. It makes me laugh when someone at work asks why I drive cars that look in the right place on a council estate. Why can't I afford a new one? Why don't I have exotic holidays? Why do I still vote Labour?
I have tried to explain. I can run several cars for the same cost of depreciation of a new one. Good weather? Then I take out one of my rag tops. Need space? Take out one of my 7 seaters. Want some fun? Take out my track monster and upset daddys little rich boy in his Ferrari because my 2 LTR Fiat burns him off. I like a holiday where I can blend in with the locals. I visit places. No spending 10k to sit on a beach for me. I normally hire a villa and drive to it. Holiday for all the family for just over 2k. And they have the memories of what they have done.
The problem is that people are fooled into voting Tory. They see themselves better off under them. They cut everything then reduce tax. Things become unbearable for those in need. But the better off become better off. And it continues until it affects the sheep. Then they vote Labour. When finally Labour get in they try to correct everything in one go. They spend too much. National debt races too high. Tax goes up. But the needy are looked after.
But what happens is the sheep can't afford to service their debts. So they vote the Tories back in. And the savage cuts start all over again.......
To be fair in a city of 8 million odd people it is pretty much impossible to stop people stabbing each other if they are intent on doing so. Even if you employed thousands of extra coppers the next thing people would moan about would be excessive policing .This chap has a better grasp on things

Its a shame that Clegg got power hungry and went into coalition with the tories, because this country is crying out for a viable third party.

The bit about Labour is just factually incorrect. Labour governments pay down more debt and run more surpluses than Tory ones. The data is there, it’s not really an argument. And basic Keynesian economics says you cut tax in a recession to stimulate growth, that’s why Labour did exactly that and handed the Tories a growing economy which they promptly tanked.
And you talk about sheep.
The bit about people voting Tory is spot on and they know it. Can’t find the link now but there was a guy who worked on their campaign that said as much. Same as Goldsmiths racist letter campaign in London was highly targeted, Labour win on Twitter but in Cambridge Analytica style targeting Tories were miles ahead and very much tailored their message towards what people wanted to hear.
