Not posted for a while, but still keeping an eye on whats going on.
I like many am absolutely amazed that Willis, Stevenson and others were not sold in the last window.
With Rotherham saying we pulled the pin on Willis, got me thinking why.
There have been rumours of investment, takeover from Malaka and others, which so far are not substantiated.
Could it be that there is something in these rumours, and new owners/investors have told SISU, that these players are the future, sell them and any deal is off.
Just a thought, feel free to discuss.

I don't think so mate but I'll cling to the hope, it's all I've got.

Maybe they are not as 'talented' as you think!

The other thing might be that they are saving them to sell when they have to pay the Court costs for JR2, season ticket sales will only cover part of it.

I can only think that the offers were not as they were made out, I simply can't believe that if offered 400k for Willis we wouldn't have sold unless that figure is made up of add-ons that SISU know they will never see (before they sell the club or liquidate).

n.b. Rotherham club record fee is a reported £500k so they must've offered at lease £501k for Willis.

would this have been cash or paid in installment, my guess is SISU would want cash now rather than installments. it could have been 501k paid over 3/4 years.

Because two birds in the hand are worth one in the bush.

The odd one is Haynes. We turned down 100K from Wolves for a player who is out of contract soon and who was happy to go.

Not so strange. If he leaves in the summer we are due compensation. We've now set a lower bound and clearly expect more.

Another theory.....
We are on track to break even this year, which is Fishers target. They expect us to get relegated, and revenues to drop further next season.
TF could be saving the player sales until the summer, to help him hit his financial targets for next year.
Standard business practice.

I'd be surprised with that. Crowds are well down on last year, we exited the major cup competitions early, and there have been no player sales that have generated significant cash. Fisher has openly said that player sales are used to balance the books. Not saying the theory in the OP is correct either, I have no idea either way. It is odd though.

unlikely. League 2 players by default will have a lower transfer value. as far as financial targets etc. surely cash in the bank is a positive?

All managers either delay or rush through incoming cash to meet personal objectives set by their boss.
Its like a salesman who has hit his target for the month by the 25th. He will try and delay payment for any new sales until the 1st, to get a head start on next months target.
Fisher will have targets to meet, and probably have bonuses associated with them. If he's on track to get his bonus for this year, he could be saving the player sales to give him a head start next year.

Maybe the decision was not to bring in anyone else (except an inexpensive striker) thus keeping within cashflow limits and look towards getting better fees in the summer.

I see speculation and debate.

You see fabrication and mouth frothing.

Who's making things up?

Covman for starters...Add it to the other "speculation" (made up things) about the bids being fabricated and that he only didnt go because of personal terms and you have lots of made up shite because people are desperate to be angry.

It's speculating Nick. He didn't proclaim it as fact. Maybe and might is what he said so that is YOU making things up.

You are speculating that people are desperate to be angry. Maybe - I repeat, maybe - because it doesn't fit your usual narrative of the fans having nothing to be irate about.

It isn't speculating though is it? People are trying to find things to be angry about, no idea why though.

"Willis only didn't go because he couldn't agree personal terms" was used yesterday in the middle of a rant for example. Add that to the other guy who was going all out on how the bids were made up.

I expected at least a couple to go, they didn't. Nobody is saying that everybody should start licking ring pieces about it.

If you can point out where I have ever said or implied that fans have nothing to be irate about? If anything it adds to my point as there is enough to be irate about without trying to make shite up, or "speculate" as you want to call it.

If that was the case I'd like to think they would of bankrolled a big experienced striker and midfielder to help save the season

Except the price will inevitably drop in the summer if we are a league 2 team

No.

Covman was speculating (You interpreted making things up).

You proclaimed people are making things up to get angry as if our fan base consists mainly of Frank Doberman types. You are speculating. (Or making things up as you would have it).

Why would people be angry about Willis not agreeing personal terms if that was the case?

I speculate (making etc) you are Wumming either way.

Because people were using it as reasoning to be annoyed that the club were trying to sell him but it only didn't go through because of Willis not agreeing personal terms?

I don't think I need to speculate that people make things up to get angry. It happens day in, day out.
