To all those to advocate changing Thorn at the helm; how would the club - even if it wanted to - do so?

We can't even afford a fitness coach or full-time scout, and Thorn's only in the position because he's cheap. So, where does the money come from for this new person - even someone from lower leagues?

And how do we, given our tradition of changing our manager more often than a teenager masturbates, attract someone to this 'dream job'. Recent history and current turmoil doesn't exactly make us the shiniest bauble in the box, does it?

I am confused by reading seemingly ill-considered calls for 'an experienced head', or 'someone who can motivate the team better' without some regard for the above?!?

I think the posts you're on about have been hypothetical. I've posted a few like that but they're purely "if we could afford/attract the right manager, who would I have". No harm in that to be honest - at the moment fantasy IS better than reality.

But a hypothesis is a proposed explanation or solution; and therefore should have some basis in reality shouldn't it? I am simply trying to understand why someone would say that we should change things, or follow another route if it's simply impossible

Erm, I think you're taking this too seriously. Like I said, fantasy is better than reality, it's just musings, noothing more! Some people need to do that, me included!

Not wishing to be 'serious' honest - just wishing people would grapple with reality ahead of making rash statements. If there's some basis of reality on a hypothesis; then it's worth debate.

For example: should we sacrifice our saleable assets, such as Juke and Biri, and use that cash to attract a new manager capable of rebuilding with youth in League One? That's a debate worth having...

Like I said, some people need to do it. It's not done to annoy people that don't want to. I really don't see what the problem is saying something like "my number 1 target would be Billy Davies" (which I said earlier). It was on a thread regarding managership so it wasn't going off on a tangent, just what I'd like to see. It wasn't a rash statement and I'm not grappling with reality. I know exactly what the reality is. But it's similar to say, when you're looking at houses and you see a million pound mansion and say "I'd love to live there"! You know you're not going to, you're not kidding yourself, you're just fantasizing! If you don't want to join in with that sort of conversation you don't have to, but I quite like it and so do others.

I absolutely agree. If you are regularly saying 'Thorn Out', you should be able to say 'X In', otherwise you just come across as sounding off about dissatisfaction about the general demise of your club. Given that SISU are loathe to improve the playing staff and are much more likely to sell than buy in the near future, the likely options for replacements are Lee Carsley, Gregor Rioch, Steve Harrison or Ken Dulieu(!). If you are so adamant Thorn should be sacked, assume the mindset of SISU and, imagining they are proactive in this respect if not others, tell us who would be employed once you have paid Thorn out of his meagre salary. I have heard Sean O'Driscoll mentioned... he was linked with bigger and better clubs during his time with Donny and has managed well over 500 games. Does it genuinely need highlighting that this is pie in the sky thinking when thought of in the context of what we know about SISU? When I queried this, I was called on not having any clue about which managers would be available and willing to come. Maybe so, but I think I am developing enough of a working knowledge of SISU to rule some out.

I think a lot of them understand that but are so disillusioned with what's going on that thinking about another manager, ANY other manager, is better than thinking about what's currently going on! I'd like to see a new man in charge because I wholeheartedly feel we should be more competetive but do I think Thorn will be sacked? No. Still doesn't stop me thinking about bigger and better things!

The facts have become clearer than ever. We need a new guy at the helm that isn't AT. He has failed.

If the club goes down it will cost them more than the annual salary of a new guy!

Paxman: let's put it this way - reverting back to my original post; we have no scout nor fitness coach. Think about Thorn's profile above. Consider the migration of players in and our during the summer. No-one will tell you that we can't afford a new manager per se. The facts tell you that.

When and if we change owners, or secure additional funding, then the debate has legs. Until then, it hasn't

How do we know how much AT was on as a scout? How much is he on now?
As paxman said it is going to cost a hell of a lot more if we go down, which is where we are heading if nothing gets changed, as I have said get someone new in until the end of the season, even as we know what would happen it would more than likely be someone who is already on the payrol, but what is their to lose?

I have a feeling it was announced when he was appointed and seem to remember it being £100k for the one year contract. Could be wrong, so put your howls of derision on hold. I think the point is being missed again... the fans on here are well aware of the cost of going down. We are aware that the team are dead last in the League and look doomed. Several are also aware that SISU have sought to reduce the total wage bill from £8.5m last calendar year to £3.5m this. Part of that process was promoting the Chief Scout to manager. Since then, they have failed to subsidise the football club in the way promised, have looked unwilling to finance loan players or backroom staff, any incoming players even looked like concessions while they remained focus on recouping some of their losses through sales. Given what we have seen of SISU, I would suggest that we can assume that paying Andy Thorn out of his contract and employing someone else is unlikely. Given this, could it be that vitriol towards Thorn (misplaced or otherwise) is unproductive and we need to get behind the football people at the Club, because that is where they remain (until the saleable ones move on)?

I am not putting the howls of derision at no-one, I just asked how people seem to know how much AT is on or was on as I would ave thought like any employee that is confidential between the employee and employer, that was all, but if it was announced how much he is on then I missed that.
I should think most know how sisu operate and what they are about however people are still entitled to ask for a change of the manager and to want and hope for a change in what is happening on the field whilst still supporting the team, as surely any hope is better than non, and a change even as I put we know will 99% come from someone who is already on the payroll but a change has to be better than non, how could it be any worse.
Why not just ask AT to go back to his scouting job? If he says no then that shows his commitment to wanting the best for the club in my opinion.
