Wigan are only getting relatively good crowds due to their last 10 years, they won the FA Cup the other year don't forget.

Other than that, they are a tiny club. Not even in the top 5 of this league.

Wigan isn't a large town. The size of the borough is meaningless. Places like Leigh and Ashton in Makerfield are distinct from Wigan.

hahahhaha not in top 5 deluded

Sheffield United
Coventry
Millwall
Bradford
Barnsley
are all bigger. Then there are a few clubs who could be considered bigger depending on what you look at.

15-20 years ago you would be one of the smaller clubs in the league.

You average 1700 in 1995.

Average attendance 1986 to now:
Cov 21,180
Wigan 20,233

Average attendance 1947 to 1985:
Cov 34,705
Wigan 6,701

Before 2005 Wigan didn't have a season average over 10K.

Who gives a fuck about a wet weekend in Wigan. They have a much bigger budget from parachute payments so should be top we are still owned by SISU so will never receive the money to achieve promotion.

we are clearly the best team in the league it just took us time to gel,and to the other poster we average over 9k home fans so that's false and we have some real gems..we will be pushing play offs in the championship trust me..big clubs dont stay in league 1! and our away support is top in this div we just sold out 1800 for Burton on a Tuesday night...

We took that to Burton on Sunday live on Sky... big deal.

Anyone go to the cup replay in 1991 at their old ground - Springfield Park. It rained we won 1-0 and there was a grassy bank where loads of our fans slid over on celebrating our goal. Ny only other significant Wigan memory is Scott Shearer throwing the ball in the net at Highfield Road for a late equalizer.

Fairly indifferent to them, have been well managed to get to and stay in the PL for so long. not sure they will find it as easy to get to the PL the next time. Had them Sheff Utd and P'Boro as promotion favourites even when we were top of the league, expected Burton Gills Walsall to fade away.

I'm guessing this Wigan fan is probably between the ages 15-21, he has probably never known Wigan as a club before Whelan bankrolled there rise to the premier league and thus thinks they are a massive club. Enjoy it whilst you can as you've got the next 40 years of traveling to Halifax and Southport.

Don't knock being bankrolled, imagine the season we could have3 had had we spent £1m on transfer fees as well as securing a few of the loans and freebies that we got. £1m is hardly being bankrolled but makes a huge difference in this league. My fear is that the nature of our season it will severely impact on our ST sales and the vicious circle continues.

When I was referring to being bankrolled, I mean their initial rise through the divisions in the early 00's

The only reason they have cash now is they are still receiving parachute payments from there premier league relegation season, once that kitty is blown they will sink back down the divisions.

They are far more likely to be successful than us.

Dave Whelan may have been a Neanderthal idiot but he has run the club very well.

The money has been invested solidly,

Until recently he also always had a knack of recruiting managers when they were at an upward curve and it served well. They've made a couple of poor choices recently but in general have done well.

They'll do well enough next season.

Not sure they will, don't think Caldwell will be up to the task in the championship.
He's surprised me, thought they would fail with him being a novice.
Maybe he learned well from his peers.

Seem to remember the same thing being said of Blackburn when Jack Walker
passed on, but they have just found there natural level again.
