when I left shortly before final whistle we were 2 nil up and villa were down to 10 men. Two good goals from quick breaks and good crosses from the left.

They won 2-0, puts them 4 points clear of Reading (who lost 3-0) on the same +16 GD. Also 12 points clear of Spurs in 3rd place. If only we HAD a future it would be bright!!
Maybe we should play at Beduff and the under 18's in the Ricoh!

If the U18's are top of their league, and we have the best couple in the first team...just how bleeding good is our academy? The downside being that as long as the free money tap is flowing, SISU won't be going anywhere soon.

After this crop there wont be anything coming through the academy.

CCFC dont have a scouting network in Coventry anymore. Some of these youth players came through from a strong Coventry league from a few years ago when City and scouts like Gooding and Kearns watching games each week. Joe Henderson (Chapelfields Colts) Jordan Willis (AT7) etc etc etc - That said that u10 league (2005 onwards) was a strong league so no surprise it generated a couple of good players.

Least Bedworth know how to win games considering they're top of their league!! They'd probably slaughter us at the moment.

The fact we don't have a scouting network in Coventry anymore is truly shocking. A decent youth team is the only hope we have for the future. I cannot think who would be in our first team without the youth players we have in the first team at them moment

Did you read the link I posted earlier in the week ? The Premiership are changing the rules on what we'll get paid for our youngsters.

Another ex Chapelfields Colts player played for Villa youth yesterday and has represented England u16 last year. Wasn't picked up by Villa when he was with Chap Colts at that time as again the CCFC scouting network wasn't there apart from Gooding and Kearns and they couldn't be at every game. Chapelfields Colts have had so many good players slip through citys grasp over the years.

No I can confirm there is a strong scouting network in Cov and surrounding area. For the first time in a long time it is well organised, structured and has a clear identity. I know this because a lad I work with is a scout and I have seen all of the paperwork, technical standards etc.

Plenty of potential in younger age groups I hear

The lad Dan Crowley who plays for England under 16's at the minute is only 14. Started at Christ the King, picked up by cov and left of his own accord. A year or so later at about 9/10 he was picked up by Villa and has been with them since, plays two age groups above himself a club level.

It would be a bit strange if the club didn't have any scouts in the city's it's based in? Considering it seems to want to go down the youth route anyway instead of buying in players.

I'll tell you now that that standard something that Mark Fogerty knocked up when he was at Birmingham City. 6 foot tall, fast that was copied from Arsenal and Arsen Wenger that is the criteria there looking at which is a load of bollocks.

There's hardly a CCFC scout in Cov anymore watching games! How come then that all our best players in this city end up at other clubs?

I wont say too much but I know a little more than I'm letting on and the scouting network isn't there with CCFC.

Also Arsenal have changed there approach now and now look at smaller players... why because Barco showed them that Wengers ideas didn't work for 6 foot+ players all over the place. (Xaxi, Messi etc)

Oh right, what do you know then, my mate is big on it, say we are signing local lads, lads from man u and arsenal.. I saw some games and they weren't all big players.

we have got local scouts, they advertised for them on the cov website only last season! Where I work a bloke runs the county trials and he is also a part time scout for city
