Tweaks for Port Vale (1 Viewer)

To get us through this rough patch I'd go for a solid 4-4-2 V Port Vale with wide midfielders Hunt and O'Brien to get crosses in and Tudgay dropping in behind Arma...

Burge
Stokes
Ricketts
Martin (if fit)
Lorentzson
Hunt
Fleck
Rose
O Brien
Tudgay
Armstrong

Madder and Murphy to come on and exploit the gaps towards the end of the game.

I would be happy with that for port vale, but for the long term i have said it before and I'll say it again. We need to return to the team that went on the run at the start of the season, or as close to it as possible.

Oh and with every game Murphy starts I wonder if his deal says he must. Very frustrating for lameiras and O'Brien. Wouldn't be starting 11 for me.

Hunt wouldn't get anywhere near my starting 11.

Haha, I meant out of form of course. It's only JOB who is currently out of foam.

I wouldn't go 442
--------RCC
Lorentzon--Ricketts--Martin (if not fit then hopefully a new signing)--Stokes
------Rose--Fleck
Lamerias--Maddison--JOB
--------Armstrong

Or maybe Cole in for Lamieras, can't really decide between the two

I was talking to a mate in the pub, and we agreed that rather than picking a formation then players around it, that the players that deserve to get picked or deserve a chance should be included then a formation can be picked.

Burge

Lorentzen Ricketts Stokes

Fleck Rose

Maddison
JOB Lameiras

Armstrong Tudgay

3 at the back away from is almost certainly not going to happen. I just don't see the point in playing players like Ramage, Phillips, Bigi just for the sake of it. You could probably throw Cole in there instead of Tudgay and change it around a little bit, but those are the players I would like to see playing.

Stoke have a game midweek.

one of their better players Grant (thought he was excellent on Boxing Day)is on 9 bookings hopefully he picks up a yellow during the midweek game.

Also noticed they had a a different player sent off yesterday for a straight red.

So I think a straight red card is 3 game ban I think.

clutching at straws lol...but hopefully 2 of their back four could be suspended.

Especially Grant as he seems to be very influential.

Pretty much agree with this team, Rose definately deserves a chance ahead of Bigi, with vincelot suspension.

Is Grant ex Crewe? If so he's a cracking defensive midfielder

I would go 4-4-2 but it would depend on players fit.

Burge
Lorentzon RB
Martin CB
Ricketts CB
Stokes LB
Joe Cole LM
Rose CM
Fleck CM
Maddison RM
Tudguy ST
Armstrong ST

Subs: RCC, Ramage, Haynes, JOB, Lameiras, Murphy, Fortune

Realise Cole and Madders not out and out wingers but they could cut in and would get some space out there to work their magic
Joe Cole's best football arguably came when playing Left Midfield.

This is what I would like to happen but cannot see TM changing formation he is a bit stubborn like Pressley in that regard - interesting to see who he picks.

Oh, right so he's a defensive midfielder then? ;-)

Jwm. Not bad I could go with that, my problem with Jc and JM on the wings would be that neither of them are runners who only really contribute from front end of our half and forward, leaving our fullback exposed.

Interesting to see nobody is going for Murphy. TM seems to think the sun shines out of his arse. Personally I think he's one of the laziest players I have seen. Leave's our defence totally exposed most of the time. Can't be bothered to chase a ball in a 50-50 even if its only 2 paces away. Time & again yesterday we had Murphy, Armstrong & Maddez standing on the halfway line while our defence was under siege. Need people who are up for the fight not premadonnas. Luke Williams showed what is needed although I agree he was very lucky to still be on the pitch.

Don't think Murphy is lazy, he is out of form though which is why I'd leave him out for a bit

Personal don't really matter right now bar centreback

We had strong team oit vs scunthorpe but the team had no will to win. That's what mowbray needs to work on

We are lower league team. Skill and flair is grear but we need battle too

i would pick Burge, im not saying that Reice-Charles Cook has done badly because i think apart from 1 mistake against sheffield and 1 against doncaster he has done exceptionally well but i think he needs a rest and taken out of the firing line for a week or two. Also i think Burge may deserve a run in the team providing he does well at port vale, if he doesnt then back in goes RCC, but Burge must be begging to get involved

We are Vale, not that shower of shit from the south of the city! ;)

We do indeed have Swindon at home midweek so Grant needs to be on his best behaviour if he wishes to face you guys!

McGivern was given a straight red for a last man tackle so that's only a one game ban but ridiculously it should strengthen us as two of our best three centre halves are not currently in the side in Inniss (on loan from Palace) and Streete (son of former Wolves player Floyd).
