Protesting (1 Viewer)

Just reading Brinner's sterling work down in London but just wondered why the protests in Coventry have not been ramped up? We just seem to accpet the shite laid out infront of us at the moment. You look at Blackburn, they are in a simialr situation stucj with dodgy owners and a very inexperienced manager, i believe there anger is slightly misdirected but nevertheless they are doing something about it, what do we do? A bed sheet gets taken off us and it all stops!

But, what is the viable alternative that we are protesting for?

I think a lot of fans have reached SISU hate saturation. You could go sky blue in the face screaming about the present situation. But the board room is just singing 'everyone hates us but we don't care!' then driving home in their jags and mercs listening to JLS CDs. Maybe stopping at Julie's Pantry for a pastie and a poo.

The only way I can see things happening is, if supporters protest with there feet and stop going games then SISU would have to find more money which could get them to do something about the running of the club. BUT if it all went wrong and SISU could then pull out completely then liquidation is a high possibility.

SISU cannot just put up the shutters and walk away - they have contracts with various organisations such as ACL that would have to be honoured or settled, the majority of the debt is to themselves so they would have to explain to their investors why they wrote of all their money rather than found a buyer who could give them at least some return etc. This notion that SISU would simply walk away is ludicrous. What we want as fans is for SISU to stop killing our club and sell up at a reasonable price, and yes that would mean writing off a large proportion of the maney their investors have sunk into the club, but as it says on the tin, "investments can go down as well as up" and this is one that has not only gone down but all the way around the u-bend and is floating in the sewer along with all the other crap. SISU have not been serious about selling and their highhanded and rude treatment of Hoffman is testimony to their arrogance and unprofessionalism. We need these people out of our club, we need them to sell and sell quickly before its too late. If the club was put up for sale for a reasonable price buyers would emerge, all that is stopping anything happening at the moment is Dulieu and SISU's intransigence, greed and their attitude that they don't care if the club implodes and they do irrepairable harm as long as it doesn't cost them.

SISU don't like the protests - calling the cops on 15 well behaved and responsible fans shows that - we need to get organised and united and this is when the Trust should be leading but as ever they are too busy passing resolutions and wind to notice whats actually happening to the club. The apathy of the City fans is the most major weapon that SISU have and we must change that and fast.

I had an idea about a slightly different type of protest that could be effective but at the very least would get attention. Fans of clubs in Sweden have done it.

It does require everyone getting on board, but basically what the swede's did, was stay absolutely silent for the first 10 minutes of the match. 10 minutes is a bloody long time to stand silent for, but it'd have a really weird effect. While it may make the players uncomfortable, think of the reaction when the 10 minutes is up and everyone gets out all the frustration. Mind you - it'd be interesting to see what happens if we score! we'd have to be disciplined.

The other idea was similar, but instead of staying silent (as i say, this would be most effective if everyone does it) when the teams kick off, everyone turns their backs on the pitch for 5 minutes or something. Considering it'll most likely be patches of people who won't take part in any protest, this might work better. Block 15 and alot of the CET stand with their backs to the pitch for 5 mins would look good.

Either way, it would need to be organised and the message would need to be sent out to as many fans as possible.

CCFC are like a mini Greece. No money with ever increasing debts. Trouble is nobody wants to bail us out

We would just look silly. I doubt it would phase SISU. Much better off not going into the ground until 25 minutes if at all!

As a boycott of the game is unlikely to happen as pretty much the only ones going are those with season tickets and having paid many will simply still turn up so a better idea would be simply for as many as possible to stay in the concourse for the first five minutes. Would be symbolic and maybe, if handled correctly, get some media attention and embarrass SISU, although I sometimes wonder if a meteor struck the Ricoh whilst the X Factor contestants were shagging the Dancing on Ice skaters in the middle of the pitch during a game and killed them all Coventry would still not get any national attention - oh to be the great West Ham, the media darlings.

I certainly think if were relegated a long way off before the end of the season then we should boycott the games. Once were down then it doesnt matter about having to go up to "support the team".

Hey, I coined the phrase "Sky Blue in the face" yesterday! I knew I shoulda copyrighted it...although seeing as you also use the phrase pastie and a poo", I can live with it :claping hands:
