That’s the squad on tour minus Mellor who’s there as backup keeper-

Missing Bell, Thomason and Stone (injures)
Patel in NZ
Woakes (England)

Not a lot to it!

Good to see Brooks in there.
Must be scouting around for a loaner.
That line up isn't doing anything in the low scoring carnage that is early CC in April/may.

Openers showing a bit of form for MCC albeit in conditions million miles away from a UK April.

Bears struggling against a university 118 for 7 this is not going to be a good season the batting looks very fragile

It's going to be a struggle without Bell.
Clinging to faint hope that (like last season) youngsters improve through season. Much of early part of last season we were hammering the openers but certainly had grown into by end of season

I think it will be a struggle even when Bell is back as Trott hasn’t been replaced

Think many sides will struggle with middle order (and runs in general).
Batting cupboard across the board is thin.
Quite a few counties promoting young players (many on the back of one-day performances)
Plus the usual issue of CC being played in least friendly conditions for batting at both ends of the season

But on a brighter note happy to have county cricket back again :)

The squad for tomorrow look a bit short on the batting but a very decent pace attack

They are two decent batsman short but as with previous years too many pace options

Thing Kent came up as well and the bears turned them over in the process.
Think Patel only bowler playing from that 2nd game. 1st game we threw away with a poor 1st innings though Belly did look like he could win it in the 2nd.
For now just got to compare 3,4,5 batters atm. Way down on experience. Bell going to be a huge miss for now.
Warks recruited badly in all forms for several seasons. Got "lucky" with the 2 openers as they've ended up there by default.

When the big ones come up we seem to miss out like Clarke who went from Worcestershire to Notts. They seem to be waiting for the return of Moeen Ali to sort it out

Out of the so-called big counties very much 2nd class atm. Just don't seem to be able to compete in the market atm.
Though this season few counties have done much business.
Think Worcs just needed Clarke out and other counties bit reluctant to take him on with all this Hepburn business and his own off field behaviour.

Woakes right that it would be morally wrong to include Archer?
Don't see it myself

Wood and Willey have also come out against it for obvious reasons. The batsmen have been talking him up a lot recently. He'll be in the squad but I don't think I'd include him. If it's not broke don't fix it and all that.

Difficult. Seamers been inconsistent over last couple of seasons. Still a side often bailed out by batsmen.
But green wickets, English conditions,
But Archer is a real talent,

I would pick Archer it’s all about winning
just watched a 20/20 spell he's bowled this afternoon.
He has ridiculous skills. Not very often a quick bowler is a match winner in 50 over cricket these day- this kid is.
Don't see the issue myself. Played his 1st cricket over here nearly 6 years ago, english father and we're now in line with the ICC guidelines.

Former Warks youngster Tom banton going well for Somerset.
More than a few of 19-21 year olds playing in the 50 over form already this season.

The bits from bears fans I have read say that it was a pathetic performance at Northampton yesterday

You have to wonder at the intelligence of the cricket authorities (for all their desire to chase a pound note) as to how you can have a public holiday with no cricket on it? And again how they can fill the week with one day fixtures but have this Saturday with only one game on (presumably for a "huge" Sky audience)

Reverse psychology seems to be working.
Hain wakes up and (as far too often) Jeets turns up to save the day.
